Update did nothing for me--still freezes. Hopefully next update will fix the Windows problems.

I downloaded Luminar 3 and when I opened it, it looks like it imported all my photos (don't like that - don't want them all in Luminar). I didn't investigate too far because it is slow, but looks like all my photos are in there 3 times.

I then downloaded the update, which is supposed to take care of duplication?, and I still see three of each photo. Anyone know 1)How do I get rid of the duplicates? 2)As an alternative, how do I uninstall the current Luminar3 and reinstall later? Anyone think that will fix the duplication - starting over from scratch?

I'm using Windows10

keg403, where is Luminar 3 importing your pictures to... the Luminar 3 "Program File" folder on your C:drive in Win 10, or is it allowing you to specify where to put them? I have not downloaded or installed Luminar 3 yet after reading the different posts and associated problems by other Hogs that have installed it. I do not want Luminar 3 to store folders on my C:drive, as I use that for my OS and my different software applications only. I have a 4TB internal drive and that is where I import all of my photos to with Lightroom now, and where I would want Luminar to store my photos as well, not on my D:drive.

I have contacted Skylum twice so far asking them the questions that I have regarding where L3 imports photos to and stores them, and of the problems I have read about both here and on their user forums, but I have not gotten a straight answer to any of my questions. They just give what seems to be a standard response on how to install it and all will be fine according to them. From what I have seen on their user forums too, many others are having the same issues that Hogs have posted here as well/

It definitely appears that L3 for Macs is much better than it is for Windows, with fewer issues and problems, if any at all.

You lucked out, Dino! Pass on the secret(s)! to the rest of us.

I guess I am just lucky! Dont have any secret! I had the first release of Luminar 3 which worked fine. Then got the notice that an upgrade was available. Downloaded the new upgrade, then uninstalled the original Luminar 3 program as per instructions. I then installed the new upgraded Luminar 3 files and everything has worked fine. I still have Luminar 18 installed to and both work fine. No duplicates as far as my photos. Yes...I guess I am just lucky!

If you delete the catalog folder and start Luminar 3 it will come up like when you first installed it. Create n empty folder wherever you want and in the setup point to the empty folder as the location of your pictures. This stops it from loading all your pictures into the library. Then just use the add folder to add just the folders of pictures that you want to work with. If you no longer want the folder of pictures you worked on to remain in the library just right click on the folder and chose to "Remove folder from the "Catalog" option. Removing the folder doesn't delete your pictures or work, it just removes it from the catalog.

Jamesl, spot on fix, thanks for addressing this problem. Had no problems with v2018. Haven't ever lost any work in either version. Luminar 3 is a leap forward which requires patience while they work out the kinks. It's not that big of an outfit and currently they're inundated with post-release queries. They've always responded within a day or 2, and during peak times the auto-confirm receipt sent when someone files a help ticket, affirms they're trying to keep up. There are going to be a few kinks to work out in any program, and though it's vexing, more good things will come in time. Vexing when the answer isn't already posted, but what are friends for? Happy New Year. sv

I use Luminar 3 on a new iMac, works very well. I don’t use the library, use Photos cloud instead. Pointing Luminar to a different folder is a great idea. Just add the photos you want for batching etc.
Discovered FotoSketch today, very interesting....

Dino - what are the instructions for uninstalling? I looked on the website and couldn't find.

Jamesl - I couldn't find the contact folder. I will try to uninstall L3 and reinstall using your workaround.

Anyone - can I simply delete the "Program files\Skylum\Luminar 3" folder to "uninstall" it?

keg403... Go into your Control Panel, Programs and Features, find Luminar 3 in the list of installed programs, left click it once, then see the 'Uninstall" button and click it. That will uninstall Luminar 3 and all of its features. If you just delete Luminar 3 in the Program Files folder it will not uninstall ALL of the files associated with a program you are trying to uninstall.

Thanks to all of you for the negative feedback, as I figured my difficulties with this upgrade were due to my ineptitude. So I guess now I must uninstall Luminar 3 from my (3rd-generation) MacBook Pro.

Excuse me. Are you replying to my post? You didn’t reference whom you were addressing.
