Tattoos. Not my cup of tea. The female human body is such a beautiful thing. Why does someone want to put graffiti on it? She would be so beautiful without them.

No you can't. She couldn't have been nicer and accomodating. And she was some kind of top kick boxer in Cleveland, so I would have been afraid to say anything anyway. ;-)

I am very new and do not have the guts to try a model shoot or have anything to add but I applaud you for trying this. I'm sure it has been on your mind to do it for a while.
You mentioned that she is a kick boxer, maybe you could shoot her in her gym while she is working out. Show that side of her also.
I laughed at #9 (in a good way). She should have that for her Christmas card!

The tats are so overwhelmingly awful its not easy to look beyond them. However I would say given the equipment you had to hand it was a very successful exercise. The "model" looks relaxed and comfortable. She has a pleasant smile.
Some of the backgrounds could have done with tidying up a little. The chair in the xmas tree shot?
The girl appears to be in denial about her true size and the tightness of her clothing has caused wrinkles which are distracting.
If you repeat this assignment with this particular young lady denim micro shorts and a small crop top with location in a trailer park may work better.
The tats are so overwhelmingly awful its not easy ... (show quote)

In what universe should anybody care about you being "OFFENDED". That is such a throw away word anymore that it means nothing.

Great photos. In download I think some are underexposed. Spot metering should help. I think your choice of poses highlights this energetic model. Great job! Ray

No one cares about your opinion of tattoos. The question asked was about the quality of the images.

An interesting thread, mostly because of the attitudes regarding the tattoo's

"she would be so much prettier without them", for who exactly? Maybe she doesn't want to be seen as just another pretty face, she is a fighter too.

Tattoo's are not something you wear, they literally are part of you. There will be a story behind them. They may be armour.

Not the easiest session, maybe a conversation first might have helped.

Without going too far afield on the subject of tattoos, it’s worth Googling tattoos and MRIs and assuring yourself that the inks are non-metallic if you might ever need an MRI (which a surprisingly large percentage of the population undergoes at some point in their lives). That and the fact that laser removal is quite painful and expensive if you ever change your mind.

The photos are very interesting, and for your first live-model shoot, I think you did quite well with the set up. My favorite is the B&W. I do like it—a lot.

My only criticism is that they don’t seem to be very sharp.

Nice job overall.

So is congratulating someone for having an ugly baby ... in the sense it may be technically correct.

At the same time it isn’t constructive, encouraging or friendly.
