Great catch, I've seen several in the wild, the south end running north. Never with a camera.
They are so illusive. And I'm surprised that he allowed you to stay near him long enough to get these pictures.
Great and amazing opportunity well done ! ......thanks for sharing

Followed this guy around for about 20 minutes. He didn't seem to be too impressed with me or my camera. I was almost embarrassed. Downloads work.
Did you notice in the last one you caught him spraying/marking his territory? 😉 Lucky timing, but you can only see it if enlarged.
Great Shots. These dudes are really Shy.
Thanks for the great pictures.
Do you suppose the cat was chased to the coast by the fires?
What camera and lens did you use for these shots?

Thank you, Jack. I appreciate it.
Great set, Chief! Early Christmas present for you and us.

Chief, you are one blessed person to get these photos. Your capture of wildlife as though you were a part of it since they allow photos like these and the bears in other posts.
Greg
Thank you very much, Greg. I don't know what to say. I think it's about 40% perseverance/40% luck and about 20% something else. I don't know what the 20% is. My wife says it's whatever makes babies and animals like me. Maybe, like you say, I'm blessed. Whatever it is, I'm not complaining.

PBS' Nature series recently had a show on cats in which they highlighted a bobcat learning to hunt seagulls on a California beach. It was very interesting.
This guy wasn't quite on the beach, maybe 3 to 4 miles. But I'm sure he goes beachside whenever he wants to. I'm not sure what a bobcats' range is. There are tons of ground squirrels where I found him as well as California Quail and other small critters so I don't think he has to work too hard to make a living.
