My personal belief is that the only important thing is the final image. To me, whether the image is realistic is almost irrelevant.

Really nice pics that I could live comfortably with on my walls. Lots of feeling emanating from them.

I remember 3 and I still think the same as I did then, the apparent distance to the horses would have them just coming out of the fog and have more definition, so for that reason I have trouble with the illusion.

2 is the tree against the textured background. Just cropping down to 4x5 to the tip of the upper branch makes it work much better for me.

1 is really lovely. The inconsistency of the fog behind the tree group is more apparent as one sees it larger.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think #2 and #3 show the best applications of textures to the subject photo, well done on all three though. Lately I have been applying the layers above the main photo and selectively masking away portions of the texture layer(s) to bring out the parts of the photo where I want to have priority showing through. It's hard to describe but it doesn't work very well for landscapes.

So sorry Linda. I'm afraid that I am that realist you made reference to. The current trend toward PP artistic interpretations just does not make my toes tingle. I like the compositions but...
For me the first with the feeling of isolation is the one I come closest to liking.
In the case of these photos---it is me that has the problem, not you. :-(

I think the consensus is that your PP work is not over processed, and I agree. You took three different scenes and worked them well. They each have their own feel and areappropriate to the image.

Did any of these work for you, Peter?

Thanks so much, Jack. There is no texture on #1. In fact, I tried to blur and soften much of the details I had captured. I understand your comment about masking and I do similar. It was a major struggle for me to learn how to use layers and layer masks, but so glad I stuck with it! I'll have to check #3 again to see exactly what I did.

Linda, great job. My first reaction was that these (and more) would make for a great book or calendar.
