I think what you did with the rock in the second photo was a good solution. The photo is excellent by the way.

Thank you Lloyd. You must be a good guy, that was my father's name.

Thank everyone for their input and suggestions. I decided to tone down the rock and using selective color add some color to a few additional rocks to balance the photo.

Good job on #3.....I think you have a winner!
My Fathers name was George which is also my middle name. You might not believe it, but our last name is Bush.

Thanks

The colored rock is distracting in that it immediately draws the eye to the lower left. When we scan pictures, the brain's pattern is right to left, top to bottom. The colored rock looks so out of place that if effects how the rest of the image is viewed.

My step grandfather's name was Bush and lived in Montana.
Who knows. lol Maybe we are "step related".

That is one beautiful landscape. Super dynamic range. If it's a vote, I like your third bunch of foreground rocks the best.
It looks out of place and breaks the serenity of the scene. The stick in the water also breaks the continuity of the water.
V3 is much better. The 'Rock colour' is spread across the FG and ADDS interest.
In the post by rgrenaderphoto above he states, " Whe we scan pictures, the brain's pattern is right to left, top to bottom.".
I was always told we scan a picture from bottom left to top right. I was always taught if you have a fence, stream, road, lane or anything with direction in a picture make sure it runs from bottom left to top right. I have always done it that way. I have 12 pieces of 100 year old art on the wall and all of the lanscape pieces the flow is bottom left to top right.

I like the rock. I would like to see it composed with the rock slightly more centered. It is a fantastic image any way you look at it though.
No rock.
It's distracting to the overall image.

Don't laugh! I know a guy that was actually related to his wife. Each of their ancestors married the same family in New England in the 17th century. Turned out they were 10th cousins.

George, in my humble opinion, the shot with the colored rock accentuates the depth of the field and gives more "life" to the photo.
