Colored Rock a Distraction?

I lean more to larguggan's input. Soften the color as not to distract but to keep it from drawing the viewer's eye from your center of attention. It can add some 'flavor' but not be the focus of your composition. I like the way you created the photo overall, would love to get there some time. thanks

Person myself think BOTH images are excellent and manifest as best depending on your mood at the time, anyway thanks for the images.

I would crop out most of the rocks up to the shoreline on the right corner. Maybe include more sky if there is any in the original. These suggestions assume the mountains are your main subject.

I found the red rock distracting. My first glance was at the water and the mountains but the red rock quickly drew my attention away.
