Adorable! I would have taken her in too under protest from my adult felines who would be extremely jealous. Love the striped kitties. Mine have all passed over the rainbow bridge. Just have shades of yellow and a gray and white mix now.

oops this took so long to post, i thought it didn't go and did it over ---sorry!
Lucky you! Beautiful little face on your new found friend.
Oh my gosh, she is absolutely beautiful, thank you for rescuing her & seeing she gets a safe loving home.
Beautiful kitten! Be careful, taking in the Unfortunate! I took in a feral cat about 12 years ago, and now she thinks she lives here! She's even brought a friend!
";-)
All of my dogs are "rescues"! Rescued pets give back in love far more than they cost!
What an adorable looking kitten. Nice captures.
You are very lucky she found you! She is one very cute kitty.

No, I don't mean Salmonella or E. coli or taboo topics of conversation. I mean this innocent and adorable little confection found mewing pathetically outside my house last night (and I am at risk any time I hear a kitten mewing for help). I can assure you she was too tiny to simply find her way here on her own; I suspect she had help though I have no idea who could or would have dumped her off, but she ended up at a safe spot. I'm not usually one to post holiday-related photos but I couldn't resist sharing these--how perfectly her colors speak of fall and holiday centerpieces! In my mind I'm calling her Leaflet because she seems to have blown in on a gust of wind, and because it looks like she has a bronze-colored leaf pasted to her forehead. She makes me smile and I hope she will all of you, too.

Great series, SWFeral, she is adorable. Good on you
What an irresistable little darling!
Captured my heart in one photo. Thank you for sharing. Happy Post-Thanksgiving.
She is beautiful! Sounds like divine intervention that she landed at your house. One lucky kitten!
What a sweet little kitty, SWFeral!
sooooo…adorable and lucky to have been brought to you. thanks for sharing that's worth a lot of smiles
Thank you, everyone. Your responses make it clear what a bunch of softies there are on UHH (myself included I know). I am happy to report that Leaflet is settling in beautifully--I do believe she'll be staying--and has lost that deer-in-the-headlights look of an abandoned creature as CSand noted. I'll probably shorten the name to Leaf so that she isn't confused with Pamphlet; that would never do. My old dog Ted has made her his new project and is completely obsessed with keeping track of her. Leaf in turn spends a lot of time on her back slapping at his big muzzle, then skittering off. Even my original cat, Oliver, is intrigued by her (I figured he'd be a butt about a feline newcomer).
I am positive she is a female because of her Tortoiseshell markings on her head and body, though her legs are striped: Tortie markings, like Calico, are only found in females unless a lot has changed without my knowing (always a possibility). And I too wondered about her having some Maine Coon in her, though I imagine she, like her canine housemates, is a mongrel. BlairShawJr asked, "What can we do?" I believe in joking reference to finding ourselves saddled with "the Unfortunate"(which Cuckoobob warns me about) and my answer is, "All we can do." As for being a person of honor, as Rick2236 so generously called me, I believe everyone who responded to my post falls into that category, because it is obvious that all of you have been in a similar spot and done the no-brainer thing by taking in whatever stray asked you for help.
I can assure you this kitten will have a good home here. Fellow bird-appreciators will be happy to know that she'll be an indoor cat with access to outdoor enclosed areas, like Oliver. She'll get the best food I can afford and proper vet care but not an overabundance of vaccinations beyond her kitten shots. I vaccinate my pets throughout their adulthood but don't do yearly boosters. Looks like I'll need to introduce her to the brush ASAP! And I hope to supply many portraits of her, not that I'm good at portraits, as she grows. Again, thank you for all your caring and supportive comments.
