Beautiful. My daughter recently moved to Portland, so I will have to add this place to my ever-growing sites to visit

I am lucky to live near Mt.Hood here in Oregon. Yesterday I took a quick drive to Trillium Lake. It is south east of Mt. Hood. The weather was clear but cold. I almost caught a perfect reflection of Mt. Hood but kayaks took care of the calm water. Oh well, it was a fun day all the same. Hope you enjoy viewing as much as I enjoyed taking. FYI... these are large files. It may take a second or two to download. Sorry.

Beautiful! We are going to get to Trillium lake on one of our annual visits to Sisters.

Thank you.
You will enjoy it there. My wife is a California girl (San Jose area). She always will have a special place in her heart for California. But she love the wilderness that Oregon has to offer. I don't know if you have ever been to Crown point or Multnomah Falls while visiting in thew past. Those are also must visit places. Actually, the whole Columbia Gorge has many places to see and photograph. Depending on what part of the year. The gorge is a wind surfing hot spot. Hood River and across the river into Washington for a visit to the museum and vineyard. So much to see and do.

My wife and I are also from San Jose. We have driven the Columbia River Gorge from east to west as far as Portland a few years ago. We didn't stop much, as it was a long day's drive from Whitefish MT to Portland. I was able to get some beautiful sunset photos near Portland though. We are going to include the gorge when we go to Trillium Lake and make sure we can do it with enough time to stop along the way.

Hi, me again. Do take your time. While you are there stop in at The Columbia Gorge Hotel for a bite to eat. Google it. It is a historic hotel overlooking the gorge with a great restaurant. Awesome breakfast. I took this a couple weeks ago in the gorge. I understand being tired from driving. I did that last summer. My wife and I drove from Charlotte, NC to Memphis, Tenn. I'm getting to old for that. lol To bad you had to stop in Portland. Another hour and a half of driving west and you would have been on the Oregon coast. It is nothing like the California coastline. I have taken hundreds of photos of the coast. My wife and I spend a lot of time there. I used to have property there. Ended up selling it and bought a time share. Hindsight, I wish I still had the property. Oh well, live and learn. Well it is getting late and we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving,
John

John,

Thanks for the restaurant recommendation and beautiful photo. The time when we drove the gorge, we were on our way home from a two week vacation and drove home to the Bay Area the next day, almost 1,300 miles in two days. That was a great trip: 5 days in Sisters, then up US/Canada 97 to Kelowna BC and the Okanagan, then to Banff and the Icefields Parkway to Jasper, then Waterton and Glacier National Parks and home, a little over 4,000 miles. We have driven all of the Oregon coast at least once, a few parts more than that. We went to Olympic National Park and drove the Washington and Oregon coast almost to the California border. We have been to Oregon about 15 times in the last 10 years and really like it.

BTW, am I correct that you have a '34 Plymouth? My parents had a '31 coupe when I was a child. I have a '67 Barracuda Formula S that I got new; it has been sitting in my garage since around 1985 waiting to be restored.

Happy Thanksgiving to you,

Dennis

Beautiful images. I really like the first one. The third comes in a close second, but I like the added element of the Kayaker in the first shot.

Timberline Lodge is a great place to visit. It has a lot of interesting history. It was used in the movie "The Shining". They called it "Overlook Hotel". The lodge was built during the great depression part of "The New Deal". Built from 1936 to 1938. On September 28, 1937 President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor were present for it's grand opening. It was dedicated as a national historical site in 1977. A few years ago I took photos of the lodge and chair lifts at sunset. We used them for Christmas cards. did you see Heidi and Bruno the resident St. Bernard's? lol
