Boy, it's good to know that Nikon really cares.

Yesterday I received an email titled, "Thank you for registering your COOLPIX P900!" Well that was certainly nice of them, especially since I registered the camera about a year-and-a-half ago and sold it after about 3 weeks. They also thanked me and welcomed me to the "Nikon family." Uh, I've been a Nikon user since July of 1968, but I guess better late than never always applies. Call me cynical, but I have this nagging feeling that the email was somewhat shy of sincere.

I'm disappointed, but I'm not feeling the love.

Nikon has recently added software in an effort to provide better communication with the consumer. I just got an email from Nikon asking me how I liked my D850. I have had it about for about a month. This communication software is new and I am sure they will have to work the bugs out, but, Nikon is trying to improve their relationship with consumers. Hats off to their efforts. This goes hand in hand with their upgrades to their R&D department. Nikon as many of you know is much more than a camera company, if fact, the camera division is only a small part of Nikon's pie. But recently they have pored more money into the camera division. It will be interesting how this all plays out over the next couple of years.

A computer mailing of a form letter... is really warm and fuzzy. Not.

It seems everyone is doing that these days. Good companies actually have a real live human being RESPOND if you happen to write back. The inept, merely greedy ones use a "donotreply@somecompanyname.com" return address, and don't list any other contact method. That's because they're probably using a third party mailing service, AND because they REALLY DON'T want to hear from you.

Btw a third party mailing service can use any return address the client wishes

Could also be a fishing expedition ... I get emails purporting to be from several companies with which I do business. I never use links they provide but go direct with the known correct address and discover they were counterfeits.

I have received these things before. I believe it had to do with when my Facebook account was hacked. They can look a genuine as possible but they are using another address rather than the one you see.

Very interesting. That sheds a new light on the matter. Thank you.

Sure, but clients aren’t always smart enough to wish!

Most folks do not receive a follow up. For some reason, I got a follow up on my D850 asking me if I liked it. I did not get a follow up on any of the previous 10 Nikon bodies that I have registered over the years.
If however you yearn for a follow up, go to Nikonusa.com and ask a question on your equipment. You will then get a follow up email. How cool is that.
