Be warned that loading plugins through their program can be problematic. The biggest problem comes with tech support. Very poor. Have to make appointment and they do not keep it. When requesting refund sent to sites that did not work. Thank God for PayPal. Corel is the biggest joke.

I only had one problem since I started with PSP that I couldn't resolve myself. It was a few years back and had to do with installing one of their free add ons

I used either email or live chat (can't remember) but the response was excellent and the issue was resolved.

My one experience is not enough to say their support is the best. One bad experience that somebody has should not be enough to describe it as a joke.

It's unfortunate that in so many cases, no matter what the product, customer service folks have to waste time basically reading from the owner's manual to someone who is too lazy to read it themselves.

I've be using PSP since it was owned by Jasc and the free trials never expired. I finally bought it, so I could get more features. I've updated it periodically. I currently use PSP 2018 ultimate. It does more than I will ever use. Also, nearly all the plugins available for Photoshop will work in PSP. I use the NIK collection frequently. I'm pretty sure it will do more than Elements and is equal to Photoshop. It was a lot cheaper than Photoshop before it was a cloud app with a subscription. I don't think I've gone wrong with my purchases of PSP.

I've recently purchased paintshop pro X9. There's a lot to learn. Printed out a manual which has 820 pages. That's a lot of reading to do.

I have used PSP for 10+ years to edit my sports and genearal shots. I like it. It’s easy to use, fast, has many good tools and is very reasonably priced. My photog buddies look a little down on me when I admit to using it, but the results and price are what I care about.

Occasionally I use Photoshop for a particular task but my go-to program will always be PaintShop Pro. It's intuitive and easy to use. Like any program, you'll need to spend some time learning about all the bells and whistles.

PaintShop Pro, Version X9 is very old. Version 2019 is the newest and has many more features.

Love it! There are so many things one can do with this program, plus they offer wonderful tutorials for free. Great program, and not very expensive.

PaintShop Pro 2018 is the only other version that is newer than PaintShop Pro X9, so it isn't that old.

Thanks James, I didn't think it was that old as well. Upgrade box kept popping up but I've disabled it in settings.

I started with PaintShop from the days of JASC and have never changed. Besides doing everything I need to process my photos (although not a believer in changing my photos to the point they are beyond original recognition) I like the fact (a) I only pay once for the software, and (b) upgrades are usually very cheap - using PS Pro 2018 right now and being offered 2019 for $22 special. Like any software, it will have a learning curve but I can't tell you whether it is hard or easy to learn because been upgrading every 2-3 years for probably 20 years or so.

Where did you find the $22.00 price? The most I have been offered is $49.00 special. Did it include some add on's with that price?

I was a Corel PaintShop Pro user for maybe 10 years. In September I updated my computer due to hard drive failure. My new system runs on Windows 10. When I installed PaintShop Pro X9 I received a script error and my system locked up. Spent over 40 days going over via emails, never a phone call, from a guy giving me instructions on the fix. none of them worked. Finally I allowed him to view my system and he tried several options with no success. He told me he would move it to a level 2. Never heard back and when I called customer service they stated since i did not respond in 48 hrs they closed my trouble ticket. What is strange is the guy would send me an email around 2am central standard time and when I would respond he never responded for 48 hours. Called customer service to complain and asked for my money back or an updated version. Their X9 says it is Windows 10 ready but did not work for me. They told me since I purchased the softward in Nov 2017 no go. So I would be cautious. Now I am using Affinity Photo

Sorry to hear you had trouble while installing PaintShop Pro, version X9 on Windows 10. That's the first version I installed and it was on Windows 10. Never had an issue and upgraded to versions 2018 and 2019 with no problems, either. As a retired computer systems analyst, I could tell you why you may have had issues with the installation, but, it sounds like you have moved on, anyway, so I won't bother. Again, sorry to hear about your troubles.

I would love to hear your solution. Their tech service was terrible. Several friends of mine who work in the IT support told me this should be an easy fix but it was not. Problem is their customer service and IT is in India because they told me cause they would respond around 3am central time. All via email and felt in talking to them they were cold and not supportive.

The first all, I would make sure you uninstall any PaintShop version that may still be on your computer. That includes deleting any files, folders and shortcuts that may still be on your computer after the uninstall.

If you have virus protection software, scan your computer for viruses. If you have a registry cleaning application (which may be included with your virus scanning software) I would make sure your registry is clean and no PaintShop registry keys are still there. I use Norton 360 to do all those tasks. There are other solutions --some free.

I would update all your computer drivers, if you can. The main drivers should be for your video, audio (sound card) plus your mass storage and DVD drives.

I am assuming you have updated your Windows 10 operating system. If not, update Windows 10.

Reboot your computer after you do all the above, unless you have done so during the Windows 10 update.

Since PaintShop Pro X9 is an older version, I hope you didn't acquire it from a shady source. It may be corrupt or contains viruses. Anyway, try reinstalling the software.

If none of these work, I would uninstall version X9, again, and buy the PaintShop Pro 2019 Ultimate version. You won't be disappointed.

Good luck! Let me know how things go.
