And to think there are people who would deny this happened.

I too as a kid wondered why everyone else seemed to have grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. My parents eventually told me when they thought I might be old enough to understand. I still don't understand. It is especially profound to read about this today . . . the day of the mass killing of Jews and others in Pittsburg, PA.

Very profound. Almost frightening.

What I find baffling is the attitude of people who live in denial that those atrocities ever happened after seeing everything that's been published since WWII about the Holocaust and the other millions of non-Jews who perished. Just a sad part in the history of civilization.

Most of my husband’s family died in the concentration camps. He never knew growing up with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins...

A very moving and sad series well photographed. Thanks so much for posting this. Unfortunately the newer history texts, especially here in California, are devoting less and less space to the Holocaust. This is happening at a time when survivors who gave testimonials in our middle and high schools are dying off. I’d highly recommend Eli Wiesel”s “Night” - a short, very moving novel describing his experiences in the concentration camps. Best to you.

The Germans were genetically no more pre-disposed to this any more than any other culture/nationality/race is. It's a sobering reminder of what, without constant vigilance, we are all capable of at one level or another.

We need to stop and reflect now that anti-semitism seems to be tolerated in the US. The 11 who lost their lives in a Jewish temple in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania should force us all out of our complacency for allowing the historically divisive rhetoric that we have experienced during the last 3 years.

Nice that you made them in black and white. I've thought about doing the same at Andersonville, Ga. in a rain storm.

“Too bad that this poster had to bring political opinions to this forum.”

Politics? The poster was simply showing how people can be delusional.

While the OP was showing the dark side of history, it is most unfortunate that similar evil exists today.

The horror done in this place ceased more than 70 years ago, yet the chill persists.

I went there two years ago. Many of my relatives perished in the camps. the one who came back never talked about the experiences and
how she survived. After my visit I could not sleep for days. Thank you for the pictures

What you wrote resonates. Deeply. And your images are beyond words. Truly, truly exceptional.

There is plenty of "delusion" going around with the other political party that weren't exemplified. I didn't join UHH to argue politics.
