Several years ago I watched a Natgeo special on Coyotes. Our coyotes (New England) were hunted almost to extinction. Your coyotes migrated through Canada and down through northern New England. On this migration they mated with Gray Wolves and domestic dogs. The product of that is a hybrid called Coy- Dogs and Coy- Wolves. Our coyotes are now larger than yours. This one is probably a Coy- Wolf. It has the legs and gait of a wolf. I wouldn't want to be a rabbit or squirrel anywhere near that thing. Thank you for looking and commenting. I'm really glad you liked them. Gary

Thanks Gary - I really appreciate you updating the info. I don't know how much of a problem your coyotes are in your neck of the woods but ours are getting so numerous in even the heavily populated areas that Fish and Game are now authorized to shoot them with a paint ball gun! It was just announced this morning so I have no idea how effective it will be.

Very nice shots Gary - especially the 3rd and 5th ones. They all look great in download view.

They are so smart and adaptable I bet it will work. If they go into a certain area and get hit with a paintball, they will more than likely avoid that area. Gary

Thank you very much Bill. I've never had it so easy. I took those from the cab of my truck! Gary

Thank you very much Rob. I've been back four times to try to see him again and haven't spotted him. I spoke with a guy who had a picture of him with a Robin in his mouth. It was a really cool shot. Gary

Good set of images, but my money is on “coy-dog” based of several point of head/ muzzle conformation (breadth of skull, disproportionately large nares, upper lip droop)
