Shooting the yob outside the house while he was running away was the farmers mistake - should’ve shot him when the intruder was in the farmer’s house.

Stan

The conventional wisdom is to make sure the perp falls inside the house and that all the window glass is also inside!!

So, my thought is to invite into my house neighbors that I don't like (possibly because they are affiliated with the wrong political party), shoot them, and then break window glass from the outside so that the glass is on the inside. That works for me.

I am not sure you grasp the photo and accompanying comments. It isn't about a homeowner inviting someone into his home. It's about a criminal forcibly entering the home of another with criminal intent (the guy had a knife and made threats to use it). That changes the entire equation. EVERYONE of us has the right and duty to protect our families and our homes. I sincerely hope that you do not disagree with that concept.

Where do you guys get all of this hate?
I haven't seen so much macho posturing since grandpa got his hair piece.

And where are you getting your facts? You all seem to know how this went down.
I wasn't there. I'll wait for the trial(s).

If you enjoy hurting people or talking about it or looking at pictures of battery
victims, try an S&M forum. UHH is a photography forum.

If that's not it--if it's not a kink--then what's really bothering ya'all?
Feeling powerless? Bad job? Under-employed? Unemployed? Hair loss? P-whipped?
A reptile dysfunction? Joined the National Front? Or just seen too many Dirty Harry
movies?

(You know, Clint's not like that in real life. He plays jazz piano. Never hurts anyone.
Used to be mayor of Carmel. Married to a local newscaster.)

"Arrested adolescent" can have two different meanings: a young person who's been
arrested, or an older person who never grew up. Adults know that violence doesn't
solve problems--it just lands you in court.

It's a good thing that homeowner was a Royal Marine (if that's true) because he'd never
have made it as a cop. Cops are trained to apprehend suspects without beating the crap
out of them. That takes skill, guts and self-control--adult stuff.

The suspect/battery victim looks like he might be a junky. Beating up junkies is one
step above beating up winos.... Especially for an ex-boxer (if that part is true).

A junky or a wino tries to steal your TV set, so you beat the crap out of him. How heroic.
All because you can't think of a better way to handle the situation Or maybe because
you enjoy it.

So which is worse, someone who steals to feed their addiction or someone who enjoys
(even vicariously) inflicting pain and injury?

Sorry to hear about the attempted robbery (if that's what it was).
Sorry to hear about the assult and battery.
Sorry to hear that some people aren't sorry.

Your TV set does not have a right of self-defense (nor do you acting
on its behalf). In jurisdictions where the "Castle Doctrine" (from
the Common Law) has been codified, that might be a defense. Or
where there is a "stand your ground" law. Otherwise, you might face
an assault and battery criminal charge.

Generally speaking, in Civil Law, beating the crap out of somebody is
committing a tort. (Shouldn't it be?) Basically, the only way to avoid
liability for the injuries is if the plantiff was trying to beat the crap out
of you. The fact that he requested that you hand over your TV set does
not absolve you from resonsibility for your actions.

In places where the rule-of-law prevails, vengeance belongs to the State,
the King, or the Lord. Not to you.

You better ask your shrink to increase your psychotic medication significantly.
