I went to Walgreens the other day and was shocked they said they'd take 8 days to process the film, send me a CD, and throw out the negatives!

Why would you want to go this way?
I'm older, loved my Canon F1, it's lenses, and control of picture. I also own a Canon 5D IV but too many bells and whistles for me. Maybe just nostalgia.

If you don't get high resolution scans of the negatives and / or get the negatives back and scan high-res yourself, you're not just wasting your time, but your money and effort too. But, you should be working to create much better work with a more capable 5DIV, said by a F1 owner and digital and film photographer.

I have used North Coast Photographic Services for 35mm scan and return for many years. They will scan whole rolls in high res and return a CD with the film in sleeves. You get digital at about 24-25 MP.
My local Walgreens develops, digitizes, prints but does NOT return your negatives! I use The Darkroom (see other posts above). They’re in San Clemente. Check them out on line.

Just come back from our U3A group where a chap was explaining just how he did this himself. He photographed the negatives over a lightbox and opened them in Elements then just just did the colour reversal himself using one of the tools.

Nostalgia. I loved my Mamiya C330f and darkroom but digital is so much better except for one thing:nostalgia.

After just purchasing a beautiful 1956 Kodak Retina IIc, I just mailed my first roll to The Darkroom. Nice to hear positive things from others.

Friends, can you recommend a lab for developing 35mm color negative film and digitizing? I am determined to use some old gear but I am worried about the processing side. Any advice will be welcomed.
Thank you,
George
My local lab (
www.citizensphoto.com) does a very good job at it. $10.00 per roll to develop and high res scan them.

How do you like it? I have a Kodak Retina Reflex III, in beautiful shape, with three Schneider lenses. Have yet to use it. ð¢
I recently inherited my fatherâs collection of more than 5,000 35mm slides from the 1947 through 1996, including tons of shots of my brother and me growing up in the 1950s and 60s I purchased a Nikon slide adapter to use with my Nikon D810 and Nikkor 60mm f2.8D lens and am in the process of sorting, selecting, shooting and editing the slides I want to keep and digitize. While very time consuming it is also very rewarding to take 70 year old slides and convert them to digital for easy storage and viewing and sharing. Attached are some photos of me as a kid...

Dear Kiron Kid. It's a gorgeous camera. The IIc has no meter so it's a little smaller than your III. When I opened the lens cover and the lens assembly slid out the machinist at work said it looked like something a jeweler would make. Beautiful worksmanship. Just sent in the first roll today.
Walmart Did it at one time, however I'm not sure if they still do it since most photos are now digital. Also I didn't use them for any special photos so be alert if you want special quality results.

Do NOT use Walmart. Low res scans and they do not return your negatives. They toss them.
