A contradicion, the Earth is committing suicide and its because of us? Did we bully her to commit suicide?

Last I knew we were part of the earth, so if we are poisoning it, that is a form of suicide.

Everyone calm down, Lord Fluffy has assured us it's all a Chinese hoax.

Earth Died Screaming Tom Waits

There was thunder there was lightning
then the stars went out and the moon fell from the sky
it rained mackerel it rained trout
and the great day of wrath has come
and here's mud in your big red eye
the poker's in the fire and the locusts take the sky
and the earth died screaming while I lay dreaming of you

I am a scientist, and I sit on US EPA committees on environmental health. You may find someone on the fringe of science who agrees with you, but by far the bulk of scientist totally disagree with your thinking. It is clear that we are experiencing a major change in climate and there is great evidence that mankind has placed great stress on our environment. What exact percentage of the current climate change is attributable to man and how much can be reversed is irrelevant. We can and should try.

Certainly there may be some cost to it. But, wouldn't you like to experience cleaner air and water?

Since when is a toxicologist qualified to have an authority on Climatology?

Nonsense, we as human make decisions based on emotions and logic, some not so much logic, Earth has no such utilities.

What are you on about? No one said the earth was making any decisions.

BTW how about only one Prager University reference a day? (no one knows why Prager is called a university.)

Maybe because Prager U teaches facts instead of left wing, socialist theories that produce confused, closed minded young adults that aren't even sure if they are a man or a woman. The only thing they seem to be sure of is that the United States is the worst place on earth and they need to destroy the constitution.

Global warming "climate change" has been a natural occurrence for millions if not billions of years before man came on the scene. How did climate change occur without human intervention all those years?

We have global warming every year. We know it better by the name "summer."

I hear you. I am not a scientist as well but I can make observations. Every year there is a new record broken. Michael is the worst storm in 100 years and then there is the most rainfall, hottest and longest heatwave, most snowfall. It just doesn't stop and continues to get worse.

A thousand years ago, the scientists didn't have accurate thermometers. How did they measure temperatures 10,000 years ago? How do you know the weather is warmer now, than then. Hurricane Michael was NOT the worst storm. You have been suckered. Was 1992 over 100 years ago? NO! Hurricane Andrew slammed into Homestead, Fla. It was category 5. Windspeeds up to 165 m.p.h.
All hurricanes are powerful. If this was the worst YOU have ever experienced, then, yes, it's the most powerful you've ever seen.

Sorry my friend, but what are your qualifications to make such a judgement? Do you know Jack Schitt about the subject or are you just flapping your gums?

There is never total agreement, especially when conservative delusions and political agendas are involved, but I understand the score is 97% total agreement among scientists upon the potential looming disaster and 3% head in the sand obstructionists with politics stuffed up their backside.

I’ll take 97% to 3, and lets fix it.

It's a shame that you accept these things at face value and never do your own research. The "97%" argument has been debunked for years. It's based on a survey at least a decade ago among scientists, and not necessarily all climate scientists, where 77 of 79 answered in the affirmative. Please stop promoting that falsehood. It's not a good look for you.

" ... because Prager U teaches ..." MauiMoto. Indeed!?!?

All that from Prager University? Bless 'em.

" Despite having "University" in its name, PragerU is not an academic institution, does not hold classes, and does not grant certifications or diplomas" Wiki

One man's Uni is another man's propaganda farm. At least Lord Fluffy was chancellor at Lord FluffyU.

People talk about us destroying the Earth. What nonsense! The Earth won't be going away anytime soon. We might, but we are of the Earth and not the Earth itself.

Here's a fact. The Roman period was warmer than it is now. That was about 2000 years ago or long before there were as many people or coal fired power plants.

Scientists (ok geologists at CU actually) identified a volcanic eruption around 1250 that ushered in the mini ice age. That led to crop failures world wide, disease, plague, starvation, death and all manner of bad things. They believe that there were maybe 4 total eruptions over the course of a few decades that did this. Big eruptions for sure but 4 of them.

Historians point to the Roman period as one of off the charts prosperity for mankind ushering in crazy stuff like democracy, architecture, science, mathematics, etc.

Which would you prefer?

Scientists are not science. Yes, scientists have opinions and bias but science is the consensus formed by years of research by many scientists. There are no data that show that climate change is not real. Sea level is rising, the planet is getting warmer, the climate is becoming more erratic with more frequent droughts, floods, heat waves and sever cold spells. This increase in climate fluctuations is exactly what climate change predicts. I remember reading about the threats of climate change in the 70's when those in power choose to ignore it for short term profits. There are still people who do this or believe those who do. They are wrong. We need to make drastic changes now if we want a planet that is hospitable for our children and grandchildren.
Scientists are not science. Yes, scientists have o... (show quote)

I remember back when the threat was that we were going into a cool trend and that food production would be reduced and the population would starve.

The planet is far more hospitable today than it was 50 years ago. We have more trees in North America we have cleaner water and cleaner air. Even Eastern Europe has cleaner air and water than 50 years ago. We (western governments) are much better stewards managing commercial development with the rules and regulations that surround all development. I remember trash lining the roadway almost everywhere we went when I was a child (Atlanta Metro area) now it is rare to see trash discarded along the roadway, is this not an improvement? We deal with effluent (waste water) in a much more responsible way than 50 years ago.

So you should be fair and make your comparisons correctly if you are to be taken seriously.

None of the studies that predict catastrophic near term future actually work to predict the last 10-20 years correctly they all assume something most assume huge increases in atmospheric moisture and other heat inducing agents.

Sure we must have some effect on our environment at least on a local level but there is so much we do not know and the solutions are always for the US to stop growing but not our competitors they can and do continue to grow and pollute far worse than we, we have reduce the US generation of most identified GHG agents through technology.

The solution to any problem will be supported by a strong and economically independant USA. If we chouse to follow the path of economic disament then we will be dependant on the East to solve the problem, NOT INTERESTED
