They had a restocking fee many years ago but stopped it for a long time. I usually go to a local photo store or use B&H but this time they offered me a 10% discount for my birthday. They said that there was a note on the web telling me of a 15% restocking fee but I guess I looked over it. I's not over, I will talk to City Bank today, I don't need a Best Buy card if there is a restocking fee when you buy something you don't like.

The notice of a restocking fee is PLAINLY DISPLAYED. You could not get to the "Place Your Order" BEFORE seeing the notice because is displayed right above the "Place Your Order" button.

This is a fight that you will lose with your bank, and you SHOULD lose it. The restocking fee is no one's fault but YOURS.

Usually policies are stated on the receipt and in terms of the sale and in the store it is usually posted on the wall as well as the receipt. An assumption is not their fault.

You are 100% correct! The OP was CLEARLY shown the restocking fee notice BEFORE the "Place Your Order" button.

Best buy will price match and they have a 6-12 month no interest so if your sure of what you want and don't have all the cash to buy outright it's a great way to get it. I've baught this way several times and it has been good for me and I always get my stuff paid off before the no interest point expires.

Once in a while I will buy something from Best Buy but usually I go elsewhere. I find their prices to be higher than I like.

Last month I bought a Canon 70-300 lens when it briefly dipped to $449. The salesman clearly explained there was a 15% restocking fee on items that were returned form selected departments most notably camera as too many people were "renting" equipment with the no-restock policy.

I will continue to shop Best Buy, at least I can touch and feel an item before making my purchase. In my part of Orange County California I only know of 3 stores with a 15 mile radius. I shop them when I am nearby. But I have 5 Best Buy stores with the same radius and 2 within walking distance of my part time New York address.

I was thinking about getting a new Canon M-50 mirrorless to take along with my SLR when I went on vavation. Best Buy sent me a birthday discount so I ordered one online to try to see if I liked it. Well, it seemed to be a good little camera but I couldn't get used to the electronic viewfinder so I returned it after a few days. They told me that there was a 15% restocking fee, $94.00 in this case. I thought they did away with that restocking fee years ago. So, beware buying a camera from Best Buy unless you know you will not have to return it.

Obviously I don't know your motivation for purchase and return. But after spending years in the retail business, I can give some insight as to some of the reasons for a restocking fee. First off by law, the returned item cannot be sold as new so the fee is to cover the loss the company suffers from having to discount the returned item. Also it is common for people that only need something for a short period, to purchase and return something, rather than rent it for a few days. Restocking fees right or wrong are sometimes in place to keep people from using a item for a week or two with no intention of keeping it.

I stopped being a Best Buy customer years ago due to the restocking fee. When they removed it I returned to being a customer. Now I will no longer be a customer. I guess they don't need my $.

I purchased a Lenovo laptop computer from Best Buy about a year ago with the thought that I may return it. It was an item that BB had on sale a week or so before Thanksgiving. I wanted to see what would be on sale for Black Friday but didn't want to miss out on this sale of the Lenovo if there wasn't anything on Friday. As it turned out there was a Dell laptop that was a better deal than the one I had purchased. Since I thought I may return the Lenovo I never opened the box while waiting to see what Black Friday may have. The store had no problem exchanging the computers. And when they did sell the Lenovo it was probably be at the regular price instead of a reduced price.

I stay away from Best Buy like it is the plague. I could tell horror stories about that horrible place. So sorry about what they did. I'm beginning to feel that way about Amazon, too.

In fact I got a better deal on my Cannon buying it directly from Cannon itself!!! Yes, the deal was better than Amazon or any store where I had checked prices.

Sometimes BB has very good deal but often people don't take advantages of those really good deals. For example most people who shop best buys would think your lens too expensive. Those who want the lens don't shop best buys.

I stopped by that Best Buy on that day only because my wife was shopping nearby. I was surprised to see the lens at Best Buy; and more surprised by the price. I was not shopping for it, but knew the lens, and knew it was a deal. Went back the next day to buy it.
I also picked up a new AF-S 16-35 F4G ED VR for $629.99 the same day.
I have never seen a comparable sale at that store since.

When I bought my D7500 last year they told me before I even paid for the camera that there is a 15% restocking fee. They said it was on all camera and lenses. I know there is no restocking fee on any of their other products.

The price at Best Buy my camera shop couldn’t touch and 0% financing to boot.
