Our ship pulled into Malta and I wanted a capture from a little different perspective. After trying different locations, I liked this shot of our ship the best. I was on a ferry and had to wait until the name of the ship came into view. I love the composition with the massive ship along side the ancient walls, smaller boats and cars in the foreground. The second shot was from the deck of the ship later that night looking back one of the three islands off of Valletta. I hope you can appreciate what I was trying to convey. Sincerely value comments (positive and constructive) from other UHG members. Thanks!!!
Very interesting photo of the large ship in contrast with the old buildings and the small boats.
You captured the city lighting with reflections in the water beautifully
The first shot looks like the town is being invaded - the ship is so large in comparison. Colors in the second are outstanding.
really nice shots (you don't see one of those coming down main street every day !)
Valletta, that's my dog's name.
Nice, but that ship looks out of place.
Thanks, my intention in the first shot was the contrast of the ship, walls, boats and cars. The lens compression helped. Although this ship is small compared to others (2,300 passengers) it still looks massive in the harbor. Appreciate you checking it out.

Thanks, after centuries of this town being invaded, it's now only invaded by tourists! The large ship in comparison to the rest of the composition is what I was looking for. Thanks again.

Thanks Jerry, just wanted to give a different look. I have loads of images of the old city, walls, cannons, etc. This puts the city (or ship) into perspective. Behind this ship in the harbor was another ship. The harbor is bigger than this image shows but lens compression makes it look smaller. I try to tell stories with a lot of my images. Always looking for a different angle.

Was the shot of the night city done with HDR? At low light levels long exposures are needed. My camera will do an automatic bracketing using shutter time as the exposure variable. I guess I'm asking if the long exposures duration interfere in the HDR capture process
I love this, brings back great memories
Thanks, this was shot with a D-850, 24-70 2.8, ISO 200, f/8, 10 sec exposure. I did not use bracketing. I hope that helps. Yes, I did used a tripod on the deck of the ship. Hope you like it.

I like the second picture quite a lot. The first picture is kind of surreal. Neat, though.
