Hi JimPitt. I had a similar need as you describe. I have a pretty good full-frame outfit, but it was not suitable to transport to Europe for a multi-destination vacation. Just too big. I also have a small Panasonic Lumix from Costco, which has great features and a very good zoom range. But I wanted something where I could attach a fast lens for interior shots. I wound up with an Olympus Pen-F, with a small "pancake" zoom lens. In that configuration, it was almost as small as the Lumix, and I was able to actually carry it in my trouser front pocket. Pretty small. However, I carried a fast fixed focal length lens, and a fast zoom lens, for when needed. Those I kept in my backpack until needed, like for interior shots, or evening photos outdoors. This worked very well for me. Additionally I got some great features, such as built in HDR (in camera) and built in perspective control (aka tilt & shift). All in all, it was a great package for my trip. Thanks to Tony at Southeastern Camera in Raleigh NC, and his team, for patiently explains the plusses and minuses of various options. I agree with Orie. I took a point and shoot (Canon Powershot) with me the other day. Took a few shots and ended up using my IPhone 8 Plus. Wasn’t satisfied with the photos the camera shot.

For a pocket camera I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 Digital (I bought it before the 200 came out). Specs are similar to the Sony at a much lower price.

For a real pocket camera, (one that is small enough to essentially fit in your pocket), check out the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II. It shoot raw, has a one-inch sensor, and is small.

My pocket camera is an Olympus TG-1. Waterproof, nearly indestructible, goes on canoe trips and hikes. Current model is TG-5.
