Does anyone have experience with the Lolumina soft release button? If so, how did you know it would work with your camera before ordering?

It looks like it screws into an old style cable release thread on the trigger button. I had one at one time on an old Nikon. New electronic shutter cameras don't have the thread so if i'm right it probably wont mount on your camera.

From reading the website info, it glues on.

I have been looking at these and I believe they are "stick on". These and similar products have been reported to fall off in some cases.

I have been investigating due to a tingling and partially numb index finger due to spinal surgery.

I have a couple of soft release buttons on my film cameras. However, I'm not fond of anything I have to "glue" on my digitals.

I use the stick-on kind - they have a very textured surface. They stay put - haven't had any fall off of my 3 cameras. I will try to remember where I got them - it was an online gadget company that sends me emails.

I really liked the ProDot from Custom SLR. It is silicone and sticks onto the shutter button, but won’t stay put. After 3 tries i have given up.

Thank you for your thoughts! I picked some up last week from Amazon and haven't tried them yet. I'm hoping the textured surface will help, but the raised button is intriguing, even if just the base is used.

The Lolumina needs more research before I order anything. They were specifically made for Fuji and must be ordered with specific base designs to fit a specific buttons. At least that's what I'm gleaning at this point.

Could the various remote triggers be a viable alternative solutions for you? Either the wired or the wireless?

I have no information about the Lolumina soft release button, but I'm curious as to your expectations. I ask because, finding the shutter button on my Fuji X-100-T by feel wasn't consistent and so bought a soft release. What I discovered, first of all, was that when it comes to soft release buttons, there's is quite a price spread- a package of three for a couple of bucks, to $20 or more for one. Second discovery was that the soft release will quickly unscrew and be lost. Yeah, got a package of three for less than $5 and super-glued in the second installation. After three years, it's still there. Thirdly, on my camera, I find the shutter button faster with the soft realease but don't know that button actuation is any smoother than before. In short, I don't know why simply gluing a larger surface area to the shutter release button - a button, washer, coin, colorful stone... anything- wouldn't do just as well. In retrospect, that's what I would have done, had I thought seriously about it beforehand...

I think mine are ProDot. I stuck one on my first camera several years ago and it's still there. I later put them on two other cameras and they have stayed put.

Being inexperienced, just curious as to what the pros think. Since the item is inexpensive, even a marginal improvement would be worth the price. The necessity of "gluing" the item to the camera, for me, may be a deal breaker.

Gluing and sticking have quite different connotations. Whatever makes you comfortable is the best way to go.
