John McCain, you decide.

The political party shouldn't matter. It's the person who is running that matters. You COULD vote Republican. You just didn't WANT to.
This was true at one time, and I hope it is again. At present I believe that running as a Republican tells me enough about a candidate to disqualify them in my eyes. This may be different in very local elections, but if you haven't noticed, the Republicans in DC tend to vote as a block. I think I have voted for Republicans in the past, don't remember for sure, but I can't see myself doing so in the foreseeable future. All I needed to know about Hillary was that she was the only viable alternative to Trump, once the primaries were over. I'm not pissed that Hillary isn't president, but I am distressed that Trump is.
Thom, I'm not sure how things work where you live, but here it's money wins elections. In case you are not familiar with his wife's background, she is part of the family who owns Hensely Distributing. They're billionaires.
We are coming up to a mid-term primary election here. Two of the candidates have numerous ads on radio. Those ads are focused on why not to vote for the opponent. None of the ads talk about why I should vote for either of them, other than don't vote for the other person.
Our current president made numerous promises while running for office. He's been keeping a lot of them and working on keeping more. Do I think he's the best president? No. I wish we'd have had better choices. Instead, it's the same old situation. Who's the least worst of the two bad candidates from which we had to choose?

That must be the reason he always loses his elections?

McCain was an icon, an American hero who stood up for what he believed in.
Have a little respect and if you can't say any thing good about this man then keep your damn mouth shut.

Try that about Trump.

Whatever mixed feelings I have about McCain aside, those on the Left said pretty much the same thing about Teddy Kennedy. Of course we all know Kennedy was an alcoholic, womanizer who allowed Mary Jo Kopechne to die while he left the scene and promoted himself a hero. Yet the Left praised him for all he did.

It all gets back to the case of Oblio and his search for a point.
When he ends up bumping into the Rockman , the Rockman tells him....
"You see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear, Ya dig?"
Liberals block out the criminal flaws of Ted Kennedy. Hell, they all lose their liberal minds everytime they hear a Kennedy say "a man sees things as they are and asks why? I see things as they could be and ask why not?" Did you know that's from a play by Shaw? It's the serpents line (yes, that Serpent aka devil).
The rose colored glasses? To be fair, we all do it. Liberals , Conservatives, I bet even Commies do it!
As for McCain, he was flawed. No doubt about that. He also served and I can't say that. He probably deserves his moment. Not a week, not a month, and not time in perpetuity.
To quote Mark Twain, or what is attributed to him at least, "I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."

I can't add a damn thing to that
Ted Bundy served as an aid to Governor Dan Evans in Washington State and volunteered on a suicide prevention hot line in Seattle. That Ted sure was a fine fella!

Were you good with Gingrich serving his wife divorce papers in the hospital where she was being treated for cancer? Do you have any problem with Trumps sexual exploits? Not saying you should, but I just want to know how many sets of standards you have.
You are exactly right but to be fair, don't you think you could also find some dem examples of this behavior?? Surely it's not confined to republicans. Fair is fair. Right??
