Also take a look at the larger Ona bags. Relatively expensive though.

Why not look at a computer roller bag,it's what we use instead of our LowePro/Tamrac bags in that situation.

Take a look at TENBA. They’re truly cool. I love my black one in leather. I use the smaller of the two sizes for my Fuji XE-2s.

Look at "Hey thief I have a very expensive camera and bag!!" I am sure this is not the answer you were looking for but a point to consider.

Possibly a moot point since the OP likely has the expensive camera in his hand. If so, that would be a pretty good clue that any bag has more camera gear in it. He said:

"The bag wouldn't have to carry the camera and one lens that's on it."

For what’s worth I have made my decision between the Billingham Hadley One and the Peak Everyday Messenger - I chose the Messenger.
The three main factors were:
1 - The Messenger was half the cost
2 - I like several of the Messengers features especially the zipper on top of the bag allowing entry without opening the from flap
3 - I have seen the Peak bag in person at a camera store and was able better analyze the item whereas I only analyzed the Hadley bag via the internet. Also I use the Peak camera straps and am familiar with their products first hand.

I use tenba bags for my gear
They are well padded and protect the camera and gear very well.

Any good messenger bag will be fine. I still say "Get a Billingham" if you want to look like you shop at Brooks Brothers.

That’s a very nice one

That was kinda a fave of some of us old(er) folk. Garage sale diaper bags. Clean but stained outsides. Insides were immaculate. Waterproof and padded. NObody thought of picking up other folks' used diaper bags.

Final results. On the recommendation of a fellow UHH'er, I bought a Tamrac Rally 6 Bag. Around $40 on Amazon. Works great.
