The whole concept of your not a photographer if, you don't shoot raw and if it's not manual, is bull shit.
The only complex I may have is, one that I find dumb people annoying. Really annoying. Seriously annoying.
Or maybe I have complex that makes me repeat myself, when dealing with stupendously annoying people.
A large percentage of people who use a camera, use some kind of mode other than manual.
Get over it.
I will bet American money, that they produce pictures as perfect as you tremendously annoying snobs do.
It seems I do have a repeating complex.
If I have hurt your little feelers or insulted you in any way... aw.

Not to be a snob but you said it yourself "It seems I do have a repeating complex" and that would include your usage of " BS and bull shit" in almost all your reply's. I do find it interesting to sometimes hear and read opinions that differ from my own and to look at both sides of the coin. When one has to revert to such language it kind of degrades the message. The only snobs that I have come across in all my years of photography have been some of the members of the PPA ( Professional Photographers of America) with all their blue and red ribbons that they wore around their necks and that was a sign of having superior knowledge or a pecking order among their peers. I don't wear a sign that says "Manual Raw Shooter" nor would I ever put anyone down for their choice in how they shoot. The finished product, the print , speaks for itself. I do agree that many more photographers do shoot in a mode other then manual and do produce award winning shots. I just don't see a problem with how anyone shoots and it's sad if you feel that you have been put down by those that shoot in the manual mode. Time to get over it.

Formula 1 🏎 drivers switched to flappy paddle automatics quite a few years ago.

Just sayin’

Great. More alphabet soup. When it’s acceptable in Scrabble, I’m all in.

Yep. And dont confuse me with the facts, either. Those not open to new ideas always have the choice of scrapping the toys and moving to a hut in the woods w/o running water or that annoying internet thingy where people have the audacity to confront others with alternative ways of doing things. Oh the horror of it all.

If it makes you feel any better, a lot of manual meter and RAW folks are not sophisticated enough to learn the subtleties of their computer-based automatic exposure systems and how to obtain prints from latent images from the computer in their camera. They have to go step wise and see it for themselves. It's also how a lot of older people learned. Did you call people who developed film and printed in a darkroom snobs? That was a form of RAW. It was not snobbery that made me buy film in 100 ft rolls and re-use the cassettes that my well-to-do friends actually threw away. It was not snobbery that forced me to learn to use the TTL meter but because it was all there was, and even that was a gift.

The degree of arrogance that photographers and even lowly picture takers carry with them may be totally unrelated to their metering styles at a given shoot or their chosen method of producing prints from exposures. However, a citation from a published study in Photographic Psychology would be interesting. Maybe you could publish one.

It sounds you had too many beers and probably should not be driving real soon.

Just read up in incident versus reflected metering. Kinda straight forward. There are both.

I do not drink.
I quit over 20 years ago. And although I live in Colorado I don't smoke pot either.
You have no idea who or what I am. So knock off your silly assed assumptions.
I read your post twice and still went huh.
I have never mentioned metering.
I do not recall writing a sentence about darkrooms or the people who used them.
Not one word.
My dad had a darkroom and so did my brother. I learned how to develop film and how to use a enlarger, so what?
I had a I skill set that is outdated and I do not use anymore. whoo hoo.
Does that make me a better photographer, nope.
Do I care you used recycled stuff, nope.
What I do care about is arrogrant jerks. who think they are the end all of photographic wisdom.
What works for me may or may not work for you.
Do I care, nope.

If you don't care, why do you spend so much effort on telling us about your feelings?

Rude, Crude, and Socially Unacceptable is, sadly, not that unusual.

This topic is about the Manual exposure option. Most of the time it relates to metering. I hope you can understand why I assumed you were sharing your thoughts about how choices in metering, or perhaps just discussing them, relate to personality. My other assumption was in the interest of public safety. Please forgive me.

Unusual phrasing....Is American money somehow better than money money? Did you forget Real American Money? That might emphasize more that you are Real Serious.

American money is more valuable than Monopoly money or Confederate money.
