WOW _ Slap me into "memory lane" - lived in Walace from '50-'55- left when I turned 18 - when I lived there the bordellos were still in business and now they just have this musium - just like all the mines are closed and only have musiums & mine tour.
Also I now need to make some inquireies as the people who own & run the musium are class mates from high school.

Oh - I thing I'll leave the PP to others - my mind is wandering too much.

Hi all,
I was in Wallace, Idaho yesterday hoping for a tour of the Bordello Museum but unfortunately due to a family emergency all tours were cancelled. So, I shot these pictures through the glass store front with serious glare and awkward angle as it was high on the wall.
Does anyone think they can be fixed? My only pp is Picasa and I can't do a thing with them. Feel free to play with them or let me know they're trash and that will give reason for me to hop in the car again for a "road trip".
Thanks :) :)

A simple question from Trail BC (close by) is the reason for the museum still operational.

Had to give it a try. Interesting challenge. All suggestions re taking the picture are good. Unless you want distortion, try to get square on to rectangular objects to make correcting camera distortion easier. Correcting two axes at the same time is tougher. Made worse by the fact that it is double pane glass, so multiple reflections. Best I could do.

Thanks! I knew the pics were bad and if I would have had a ladder I could have done better......But another roadtrip when they're open is always worth it.

Evidentally the last Bordello closed in 1996. Not that long ago which seems strange.

I was in Wallace on the 5th. Didn't go to the bordelo museum though. Went last year and they didn't let cameras up into the rooms. I think the artwork you took pics of is also the cover art for a book on "soiled doves". I think that it was for sale at the gift shop in Bannock when I was there earlier in the week.

That must be a new addition from the last time I was in Wallace - the "Oasis Rooms" was directly above the Oasis Bar on the corner -and over the store front museum. - then the next was the "Arment Rooms" then " Jade Rooms" as I remember. None of those were in the museum then but were three of the 4 on that street that I can remember - The better one was the "Lux Rooms" that was a few blocks north just before the street crossed the stream across from the Historic Great Northern RXR station. To get an idea of the scope of how wide open this town was at the time I moved there - it was just a barber shop, and the theater that separated the last bordello from the police station and just one block south of that to the court house[- also gambling was legal - Nevada style - 'till 53 - and slots & poker tables hung around in the back rooms for years after that.
Remember there were about 15 working mines, several saw mills and the RXR that were supporting these ladies and keeping the women of the area safe.
