Correct. Any easy way to see which applications are 32-bit or 64-bit code is via: Apple > About This Mac > System Report > Software > Applications. Wait while the Mac creates the list. Sort the "64-Bit (Intel) column at the far right. View your 32 and/or 64-bit apps.

This is sounding more encouraging! I think all of my programs are 64 bit. However, as the graphics card is not working (one of the reasons I am getting a new computer) I have no graphics, and cannot generate a systems report as you suggest.

I have upgraded to new Mac many times and using Apples migration program all files AND programs transferred seamlessly to the new machine every time. It’s one of the advantages of using Apple computers.

I recently upgraded to a new iMac and I transferred all my programs over from my old one fairly seamlessly (PS & LR 6). Nothing I couldn't fix myself anyway.

My “vintage” MacBook Pro just died. The cost of repair is more than the computer is worth. I just purchased a 27in iMac. When it is delivered, Apple will transfer the data from my old computer to the new one. The problem is, no one at Apple can tell me which photo editing software will transfer. I’m told we will have to wait and see. I have Lr 5, PS CS6, Topaz (all programs and Studio), ON 1, and some of the Anthropics software (Portrait Pro, and others).

I am very anxious to see what happens. Does anyone have any idea what will transfer, and what difficulties I will encounter trying to get them up and running?
Thanks.

Yes. Use Mac > Applications > Utilities > "Migration Assistant"

Do not count on it my New DELL will not talk to my Cannon printer this has been going on for Four months. The message that I get is if Windows 10S is not compatative and you may need to install Windows 10 Office pro. Make they will talk to each other.

The one problem I did have was that the Nik Plugins no longer worked and that was disappointing so ultimately I did end up moving to CC so I could have the Nik by Dxo, which I love and can't live without. The other problem was with setting up Color Picker camera profiles in Lightroom. If you call Adobe they will give you your first year for $4.99 a month for a year then it goes to $9.99 - or at least thats what they gave me mine for and although I really was fighting going to subscription in the end it was worth it for me.

Yes including non-Apple programs, Adobe for instance (and many others). Everything on the hard drive transferred with no issues.

But I must qualify that: (1) I do not have any Microsoft programs on my home computer; (2) today, 64 bit programs are needed going forward as 32 bit are being phased out.

Is DELL made by Apple Inc.? And does your DELL run OSX?

I am sorry but you are comparing Apples to Edsels. They are not really all that similar.

Thanks. I have Nik but don’t use it very frequently. If my other programs (Topaz, ON1, Portrait Pro,) will transfer and run seamlessly with PS and Lr, I’ll be a very happy camper! Can I assume that when your programs transferred you still had to enter activation codes?? I am planning to relent and subscribe to PS and Lr. I don’t understand why Adobe gave you the first year for $4.99 a month.

Thanks JD750. I think all of my programs are 64 bit. Did you have to enter activation codes to each of the transferred programs in order to use them?
