Thank you very much, TriX; yes this plane, the P-51 and the Spitfire were, IMHO, the three best allied fighters of WWII.

Wonderful shots of one of the greatest fighters in WW II and probably the best ground support aircraft in Korea. Friend of the family made Ace in a F4U. Please don't forget the P 38 Lighting in your list of great WW II fighters.

Yes indeed, I agree, but I do have a place in my heart for the P38 Lightning (although not technically a fighter).

Great shots .., can you imagine being a Zero pilot and see one of these coming after you ..? One of my favorite aircraft next to the P-51 ..and as noted “don’t forget the P-38 .. In the Movie “God Is My Co-Pilot” it was a star...

Thank you very much, safeman; yes, I should have added the P-38 and the Hawker Hurricane.

Yes, I would be remiss leaving out the P-38 and the Hawker Hurricane.

Oh no. In every respect the P-38 was a fighter. Ask Yamamoto or Zero pilots who were shot down by P-38s in the pacific or Me109 and Fw190 pilots in Europe. It could serve other roles but it was in every respect a fighter.

Very nice photos Rob. It is a great looking airplane. I built two paper and stick F-4U Corsair models when I was a kid, taught me a lot about this complex dihedral wing construction. I like the prop blur in the last shot! I like the way these are processed.
