Now I just need to find out ifis USA or a import model.

Here is what to remember when buying a import model, or gray Nikon products.

What are Gray Market Products?
Nikon products that are imported and sold by anyone other than Nikon Inc. USA are considered Gray Market products. These usually are genuine Nikon products that were intended for other Nikon markets; therefore, they may not meet Nikon’s specifications for US products and they may not perform as expected.
Terms to look for
The majority of Gray Market products are sold online at discounted prices. Look for the following terms, which often indicate that a product is Gray Market.
Import Model
Warranty via Seller
Gray/Grey Market
Nikon Import
USA Seller Warranty
Off Market
Direct Import
USA Coverage by Seller
Seller Warranty

Why are Gray Market products risky?
Since Gray Market products are not imported and distributed by Nikon Inc. USA, you don’t know exactly what you’re getting.
No Nikon Warranty
Gray Market products may contain a limited warranty from the seller, but they are not covered by a Nikon USA warranty.
Non-genuine accessories
May include counterfeit or third party accessories that could damage Nikon equipment.
Fake software
The software included often is either copied or counterfeit.
Wrong power cord
May include an incorrect power cord or adapter not designated for use in the USA.
Not eligible for repair service
Not eligible for Nikon USA repair service, even if you want to pay for it.
Missing user manuals
User manuals are often missing, incomplete or photocopied, and they may even be in a foreign language.
May not be as expected
Since Gray Market products were not designed for sale in the USA, they may not meet your expectations.

Can a Gray Market product be registered thru the Manufacture? and if so, Will the Manufacture recognize it as Gray Market?

Reminds me of the famous Old West sign... "You pay going in or you pay going out, no one rides free." I always remember that when something sounds too good to be true. It is always final cost, not advertised cost. This has been in effect since the snake offered Eve the free apple.

That sounds just like New Jersey!

That's a fairly common occurance on eBay. Low price high shipping. % taken by eBay on sale price, but not shipping.

Sorry, but that's not correct. Ebay takes their percentage off of both the selling price AND the shipping charges.

I do a lot of selling on Ebay, and they take 10% of the total sale, shipping included. If the item is picked up locally with no shipping, of course there's no shipping charge and therefore no percentage taken. To make matters worse, not only does Ebay take a percentage, but PayPal does, too.

The word on buying from third party sellers on WalMart's site is synonymous with what others have said; the descriptions bait & switch or scam sum it up quite nicely. Walmart won't help you if you have problems with an item that isn't shipped to or delivered from one of their stores. By comparison, Amazon fulfillment of advertised 3rd party sellers, or Adorama/B&H leaves wally-world in the dust bowl. Other camera shops vary so do your home work. As of this year, we don't buy from wally; paying while watching yourself and all of the others in line, on an HD monitor by each lane is creepier than knowing the NSA watching but not broadcasting. Wally's gives all law enforcement agencies a free pass to all video streams without legal process and their facial recognition is next to none.

After decades of buying camera gear almost every vendor in the USA, buying always a seller's game, but if you stick with Adorma and B&H, both are our favorites you won't get rooked. If their ad says new; it's new. If you get a favorite salesman, keep him, and call him daily for something you need; sometimes they'll have what you need and it hasn't had time to be listed. You'll always have 30 days from receipt to return your purchase for a full refund unless the body or lens is listed as parts only; their grading systems are a bit different. Almost always, you'll get what they call free expedited 2-3 day (ground shipping). If you would rather have a different shipper than what they choose, they might give you a break if you call in before ordering; but pay for what you really want without quibbling; experience in all camera shipments has taught us never ever allow camera gear to go through the mail. If you need to return something because you don't believe the quality is as advertised or may be defective, they'll give you a return RMA and shipping label to print. If because of a defect, your return shipping is free. Used items totaling over $50, and new or factory refurbished cameras/lens ship to you free of charge. Adorama has a VIP category/membership for about $50 per year, so if you buy several factory refurbished or new items each year it can be handy. As others state, their holiday and special sales can't be beat. With all that's offered, Amazon can't usually beat these two stores. Just a few of the reasons we like buying our stuff there.sv
