The Painted Churches are a group of churches, not actually in the town of Schulenburg, but in small communities in the surrounding area with place names like High Hill, Dubina, and Praha. They were established by German, Czech, and Polish immigrants in the late nineteenth century. They have become popular tourist attractions because of their elaborately and colorfully painted interiors. At first glance, some of the interiors appear to be stone or brickwork, but in fact are beautifully painted wood surfaces. We made our first visit to the churches in 2017 and a second visit in June of this year. The first 4 images were taken in 2017 and the last 3 in June 2018. Comments welcome and I hope you enjoy.
#1 This was only the first of 4 churches we visited last year.

Great shots. What wide angle lens did you use? The first photo has significant parallax distortion.

Terrific job on those tricky interior exposures, Tom. I especially like #2 and the stained glass. Must be a fantastic experience to see in person!

Thank you for taking a look and commenting. I shot this one and most of the others with my Canon 18-200mm lens. I use that lens for about 95% of my shots.
Thank you Bob for looking in and commenting. I appreciate it and the
x4.
