I just did this in April-May. I took a Fuji X-T20 with an 16-50, 50-230 and a 27 mm prime. Cruising up the Rhone from Marseilles to Lyon the scenery wasn't that great, other than the Nuclear Power plant south of Macron. 99% of my shooting was on shore excursions, and for that, the 16-50 was the ideal choice.
Did you find that a tripod was a good idea for the excursions? I love my VR lenses but I sure ain't as steady as I once was.
