I have been out of photography for quite a long time and am just now attempting to get back into it, therefore; may I ask you what is it that is so special about the Tamron 159-600 lens? Do you have any test results, specs or reviews on the lens that you may pass onto me ? What might be the best price tag on this lens? Also, if you don't mind my asking, what DSLR is considered to be the hot item these days? Is the "same ole - same ole" Canon vs Nikon battle still going on? If so, which one is on top these days?

The camera that I currently have is probably obsolete these days and the camera is a Nikon D-810 which I purchased new from B&H back in 2015. I have several high quality Nikon lenses for it and the prize lens in the group is my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II Lens with amenities such as -F Mount Lens/FX Format, Aperture Range: f/2 to 22, Three ED Elements & One Super ED Element, Nano Crystal & Super Integrated Coating, Silent Wave Motor AF System, Nikon VR II Image Stabilization, Internal Focus; Manual Focus Override,Weather-Sealed; Meniscus Front Lens, Detachable, Rotating Tripod Collar, Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm, Internal Focus; Manual Focus Override, Weather-Sealed; Meniscus Front Lens, Detachable, Rotating Tripod Collar and lastly, a Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm.. Needless to say, this is one heck of a lens and B&H is currently offering it at a price nearing $6,000.

I will appreciate any information (the latest info about the front runner DSLR camera these days): Info from you or from any other member on this forum.

Thank you,
~ Slade ~

How "finely" did you do it? Can you report back to the nearest .0001" please? Also, it seems so odd that a lens would start at 159mm, but to each their own I guess.

Slade, I have both the D810 and the Tamron 150-600 G2 lens. The lens takes very sharp photos while handheld. It is sharp in all ranges. I use it primarily for action nature.

Slade, there is absolutely nothing wrong or obsolete with that 810 you have. Sure, the 850 is getting all the sparkle now, but unless you just have to have the latest and greatest, keep shooting that 810 and use your money to travel to great places.

Too funny! When I got my Sigma 150-600, my husband wasn’t happy at first. So, I held it in my arms and said, “Isn’t she beautiful?”

He was going to get me diamond earrings for my birthday. I told him that the lens would make me happier! Now he takes me on photo shoots to the marsh or local parks and we’re planning a trip to the zoo so I can practice. I also got a gimbal head and monopod to use with this lens.

I think I’ll take the tripod to the zoo, though.

Enjoy your new lens!!

I realize that those who offer actual advice to Slade
are prolly quite sincere, but I'm pretty sure that he,
Slade, had simply written a parody, an intentionally
over-the-top version of a typical gearhead posting,
offered as a magic mirror in which gearheads might
see their own reflection, enhanced and magnified.

I really think anyone who takes it seriously has a
case of tunnel vision, or tunnel thinking [or both?].
Come out of the tnnel and re-read it :-)
