Thanks for the reply Joe, What kind of blind do you use?
I retired my old blind, installed this on my deck in February and its been up ever since. My wife got it for my birthday.

I have been using it today and the last couple of hummer post were shot with it. One thing for sure...its not going back.

Yes, but now I have some perspective: The forth-coming 400mm, f/2.8 (?), $12,000 lens is six pounds heavy and much larger than the 100-400mm zoom. At least the 100-400mm zoom is sharpest at the 400mm end. I would really like it if the 100-400mm zoom was a consistent f/2.8 and did not extend another 4 inches when zoomed. But I guess being f/4.5-5.6 and extending is why it is not more expensive.
The following picture was taken with a Sony A9 and the 100-400mm lens at 400mm. They are: 1. JPEG out of the camera, 2. RAW to JPG cropped, and 3. cropped again. But no sharpening has been done yet.

Thanks for sharing this. I have a cherry tree about 10 feet away from my deck and this would be perfect to put on it, similar to what you did. My birthday is coming up August 08. Think she would get one for me?

Was unable to view all of your photos, but must say that your large horizontal photo of the Bluejay is as sharp as a razor's edge. You've got yourself a mighty fine lens there, Joer!
