I have used Dodd Camera for twenty years. It is a very good and reputable store.

I have been researching bridge cameras on line for a while now and I am on information overload, so now I need to go to a brick and mortar store to actually hold the cameras, I also want their input. The answer I am looking for now has anyone used the Dodd Camera store in Mentor Ohio, I did not see their name mentioned here. Their prices are in line with Amazon and a few others I checked, but I do not know what their reputation is. Any help will be appreciated.
Have not used the store in Mentor but I have used the one in Dayton. Did not buy a camera there
but did buy a very nice camera bag. They were very friendly and professional and Dodd Camera is a reputable business, not a rip-off place.

Dodd in Cincinnati is well respected. Same chain, so I would think the Mentor store would be good too.

We have a Dodd here in Cincinnati. They have been very reputable but higher on their pricing. I also found it hard to get someone to offer assistance. But once someone was available, they did answer all of my questions and helped me to my satisfaction. We now have a PROCAM here and I find myself heading there more often as their selection, comparable to Dodd’s, is 4 times bigger. And the customer service is top notch. Good luck.

Have heard of both Mentor and Dodd (was born in Cleveland). Dodd is a very reputable old camera store, not as large, but certainly as reputable as B&H. See also Roberts in Indianapolis. Good luck. /Ralph

I have dealt with Dodd only in person at the Cincinnati store. Knowledgeable, and personable.
Pricing in line with current.
Since I live in the area, there was no need to deal on line with them. (And most likely will go back.)
They have several stores, including Chicago, Cleveland, Dayton, and Cincinnati,
and probably one or 2 others I am not remembering.

Dodd Camera is great, they have always taken good care of me, I don’t go to the Mentor store but the downtown Cleveland and Fairlawn stores are terrific. I have a rule, if I can get it from a local brick and mortar store, I buy from a local brick and mortar store, even if I have to pay a little more.

Now that we've settled that. They are cool. It seems Dodd is a Camera Store chain like Sammy's used to be. Sammy's were in then shopping malls all around CA anyway. These days I only know of two Sammy's both large-ish in Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA. Googling, I find there are a total of six remaining in CA. And are of a more traditional camera shop nature. Even the the L.A. - Hollywood area there are very few brick and mortar camera shops left.

Dodd is a quality run store. They offer a variety of photography courses you can take at their store.
Their is also Campus Camera in Kent, Ohio you might want to also check out.
I do not know the stock of bridge cameras available at both stores but I would call first to make sure they have in stock what you want to look at.
BEWARE, stores TEND to push what they have in stock, if you have your choice narrowed down make sure you can put that camera in your hands.

Dodd Camera has been a northeastern Ohio camera chain for decades. They are an excellent source of photographic equipment; brick and mortar stores
where the customer can see and handle cameras. I buy equipment from them because they are fairly priced and locally owned; I have been pleased with
them over the years.

I use Dodd in Dayton, Ohio and the guys there are knowledgeable and very friendly. I just bought a Tamron 18-400 from them and traded in a lens. Very fair on both ends of the deal.

I have used the Dodd's in Fairlawn and they have been great. Knowledgable and friendly. You should be fine with Dodd in Mentor!

I have never been to the Ohio stores, but have visited the one in Chicago (actually was just there yesterday). Their prices are decent and fair. The employees are extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and pleasant to talk with. They do tend to cater to the more professional photographers, but treat me just the same even though they can obviously tell I’m only a hobbiest. My 10yr old son just took a youth photography class there and the girl running it (Allison) couldn’t have been any more nicer. They also have a pretty decent amount of in-store cameras and accessories. My guess is that their customer service and inventory is the same throughout all of their stores.
