Then why does the Supreme Court tell us what to do. There is a higher law over the Supreme Court called the US Constitution that the Court has to follow. Many of times l wonder if the Court has followed this law? The highest law in the nation! Federal, State, Local and Supreme Court MUST follow this law!
Since when does the SCOTUS follow the Constitution... They interpret the Constitution in large part that is why we have so many things the Federal government that are not mentioned in the Constitution at all...

If the government would follow the constitution as it was written then there would be less problems for this country.

The Supreme Court's job is to interpret laws that are written to ensure the laws are in accordance with the constitution. They do not tell you what to do. They ensure laws are constitutional. There is no higher court in the land. They have the final say.

Their job is to follow the constitution based on how all nine justices interpret the particular point of law. They are given this authority by the constitution. High school civics people.

Right, they should do what the constitution dictates regarding internet sales. TJ was a genius on the subject.

There is a possible solution to all of this. Create a "membership purchasing consortium" in a state without sales tax....such as Delaware. As a "member of the consortium," your on-line purchases are mailed to the tax free state and then the consortium mails it to its member in his/her state. Since the purchaser (the consortium) is tax exempt in Delaware, no one pays tax. Just a thought.

Sales tax should never be more than a one time thing for any item bought new - folks buying used items (of any type) should never have to pay tax - that happened the first time the item was sold. What we are really being hit with is taxation of "transactions". I have never felt that was right. If I buy a new item from a "no sale tax" state, I should not be charged tax regardless of where I live.
I said it, and I meant it.
I am curious, do all of you who are up in arms about this think there should be no sales tax?

Only "the other guy" should have to pay it.

It depends upon what you mean by being 'up in arms'. I have no philosophical objection to taxes, sales or otherwise, so long as I receive some value from the taxation. However, the way that this new tax situation will be implemented could cause significant disruption and also hardship to many. We do not yet know the details, they could be minor or major. It is all relative, but we cannot deny the inevitability of either death or taxes.
Personally, I don't really think this topic is focused upon photography
If your state has a business in it like Wal-Mart, Amazon, Sears, Target you should pay sales tax. But it say you purchase car parts from JC Whitney to rebuilt a 1968 Pontiac 455 engine you should not pay tax on these parts since this store is not in your state. This was the way the law was written, but South Dakota was losing money because of internet sales, took this to court and won. Since South Dakota is the home of collection agencies they do not have any stores that sell on internet and that were losing money from it and ask the Supreme Court to change the law so that every state collects there fair share of taxes. So maybe we should pass a law and collect a part of South Dakota's sales tax and pass it around to the rest of the state's since they opened up there mouths and is now costing everyone sales tax on items purchased. Better idea why doesn't the Supremne Court charge the tribal casinos with paying taxes on the money they take in from the people who gamble there since the Court claims it is legal for People to gamble at trouble casinos.
