My NIKON D3200 stops taking photos.

Hi Jose.

It's true. The buffer fills up and needs time to transfer images to the card. You may have better luck with a faster card. Check the specs on your camera and get the fastest card recommended. However, the D3200 is an older, entry level camera and just may be limited by it's own transfer speed. Try the card idea first, if that doesn't work, you'll have your answer.

I have a Nikon D3200 that I bought to take landscape pictures and sometimes take pictures at social gatherings but, whenever I try to take several pictures in a short period of time, I notice that it stops taking pictures and I have to wait 2 or 3 seconds until I can take pictures again.

I read about it and found out that it could be that the camera can not save the pictures fast enough to the card I have. I don't know how true this could be, any suggestions?

Thank you all.

I have noticed that even with high speed cards the 3200 is slower in the entire process than say my Sony A37 or A58 (using same type card), they are just faster than the Nikon.

If you are banging away with the shutter release you are probably having a buffering "problem." It's a problem I first experienced when converting to digital photography (especially when shooting people and not wanting to miss a shot). The problem can also arise while you wait for individual photos to show up on your screen; I find that slightly depressing the shutter release or back button focus stops the "development process" and lets me go on with shooting -- unless it's a case where I've filled the buffer.

Could be the memory card, or the buffer in your camera fills up too fast. When it does you have to wait for it to send your images to the card.

I agree. I expect your buffer is filling and it takes some time to empty.

Here is a link to Sandisk, if you plug in your camera body it will show you which cards will work best in that body
