I worked in an office that decided they'd save a few bucks by purchasing 3rd party ink. Mess doesn't even come close to describing what the inside of that printer looked like after the second sheet of paper went through it. This was a high dollar printer too. It cost an incredible amount of money for an OEM tech to come out and clean the mess and get it working again. The advice was always use OEM ink.

I will stick with the OEM ink cartridges. I have far better things to do with my time than fixing things that did not need to be broken in the first place.

First point, your reference and insinuation about the FBI is offensive, my two sons both work for them after military assignments and it is a fine bureau and I do not find your comment nice. AT ALL. Even if you were trying to be funny.
Second, 3rd party anything cannot compare to OEM anything. Same with batteries, camera lenses, almost everything third hand cannot play on the first string team.

Regarding the FBI, I agree. Regarding 3rd party anything, it's a crap shoot. It may be okay, but you have to buy it and use it to find out. (Some people on this forum are perfectly happy with third party lenses from Sigma and Tamron.) Personally, I wouldn't touch third party ink for my Canon inkjet, even though I think that Canon charges too much for their ink. I won't potentially won't know about the longevity and water resistance that I know I get from Canon until it's too late.

and speaking of Epson...I uses to use my $325 Epson printer a LOT and never used anything but Epson inks in it...clogged anyway and left streaks on everything I tried to print...so I bought a cheap HP printer for $30 and it makes a beautiful print...slow as Christmas but very nice.

I've been using the same Canon printer for about 5 years. Before that I went through two Epson Printers that clogged and streaked and used up half of the ink cartridges cleaning the heads when it happened. Of course, that was some time ago, but I'll always be wary of Epson printers from past experience.

Canon and Epson have AIO and other models without full blown AIO function that use bottled ink and are designed to be refilled. Canon models are MegaTank and Epson models are EcoTank. OEM refills are so cheap it makes sense to stay with them. Cost for each bottle of MegaTank OEM ink is $11.99 c/m/y and $17.99 black. Capacity according to Canon is 30 times that of cartridges. OEM EcoTank is $12.99 on Amazon. Epson capacity is also 30 times that of cartridges. Canon also has the Maxify line that uses pigment ink. I have one of those at our business and it's a workhorse. Cartridge capacity is 40ml. These are by far the easiest cartridges to refill of any I've ever used.

Same here, I refill my cartridges for over 10 years with 2 printers , never get any trouble.

Huh??????
I have been refilling my cartridges with Precision Colors for nearly 3 years now and have never seen any "scum" in my cartridges (they are transparent Canon OEM modified & cleaned to be refilled).
I have never had a clogged head or other problem either.
The colors are great.

So, I’ll ask the question again; every one talks about third-party inks but what brands are best? Nobody seems to mention a brand.

LD Products and Precision Colors are 2 I have used with no issues at all.

"Because if you need warranty work or a replacement and it has 3rd party ink in it they won't honor the warranty."

Sorry, you are wrong.
Google: "The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act".
I think you would be supprised.

And unless someone at the FTC takes up your claim and pushes it you will need to own a law firm to push through if they say "NO, you used crappy ink and we won't cover it!".

First I'll make them aware of the federal law and if that doesn't change them then I'll Sue them.

I have already had , in the past, had 1 multifunction replaced telling them about the federal law.

And then when they tell you to pound sand what is the next step? Sounds like you have a lot of spare time on your hands. As for me I will just use their ink at least until the printer is no longer under any warranty. To each his own.

Agree. But since the reference has been made it’s the SOBOTUS....
