Trying to get back into photography... Just tell me what you think... I do want to know if I can crop this close to the head....And is it too dark for B&W??????
It's on the dark side, but maybe you wanted it that way. More DOF (depth of field) would have made a better picture, and a sharper focus, nothing is really in focus. Just my opinion.

You can crop any way you want. I like the darkness and high contrast.
That tight crop is unusual, but this is your art, so it is your prerogative. I kind of like the visual tension it brings to the photo. If it evokes a response you like, I say it's proper. I like the low-key look, too. If this were for a high school yearbook...not so much! 😄
I like it, the tight crop adds drama. Would love to see sharp focus on your eye. Nice image.
I wanted it dark.... But haven't got the trick of the depth of feel down yet..... This is my first week with this camera.....

The only thing missing is getting the eye really sharp. I like everything else about the shot. The contrast and narrow depth of field work really well, but the focus is just slighting in front of where you want it to be.
Thanks! Working hard trying to get in focus and doing every thing manually...........Snail at work.....
I like it.... I think the curve on the head adds the sharpness, and I kind of like the OOF of the camera makes me pay attention to the concentration of the eye.

It looked sharp before I took it..... I don't think I like my tripod...... Thanks!
That makes me laugh.. I don't have a tripod. I don't think I am going to get one either. Its the 21 century after all.

The whole picture is working for you . don't change anything.
Thanks! For the come back every one.... I feel better about what I am trying to do..... I haven't really done this since 1977 when I was in high school and things have really changed....

both the crop and the b/w give this photo an intense mood. agree that a larger DOF would have kept everything in photo sharp. good job!
