both the crop and the b/w give this photo an intense mood. agree that a larger DOF would have kept everything in photo sharp. good job!

I'm not sure the DOF is the issue. The one visible eye could be sharp and everything else out of focus and the image would be improved.

I agree - or you could make a version for a Sony ad focusing on the logo. :) (I'd probably lose the logo in post, m'self, as I hate to do free advertising.)

Nice evocative shot there - I like!

Mr Serious, I too like this shot. As others have said there is a very dramatic statement being made. I think it would be great if the focus was better. You may have been too close to get it sharp. That would be dependant on the lens. Keep it up a few tries and you could get a winner.

Dang and I was just readin a pro's book in Barns and Noble about every thing dosn't need to be in focus.... (looks like the focus was on the wiskers and not the eye.)....Oh he did say try this type of closeup on the macro setting..... yada, yada yada... how about macro with the Apt cranked down a little...may have to bump up the ISO to make it work.....step by step till you get it. ilikeit

Hey the lighting looks better, and the focus is also much better. I like the cropping in the second as well. Your expression really adds to the shot. Nice work!
