I just upgraded my iCloud storage plan so that I could switch to shooting 4K video on my iPhone. I had been avoiding changing from high def to 4K because of storage. Then, the other day I had the though that in 5 years I am going to look back and realize I was an idiot for not using 4K for video when the technology was in my hands. And storage will continue to get cheaper.

LOL at many of the above comments. I have 4k on my laptop that I use for photo editing and viewing. It provides more precise ability to edit, what I do have. Sharpness make a difference when you sell enlargements, which I do. So MHO, depending on your eyes, and those still listening to AM radio, it could be a waste of time. But for the most part, 4k TV are here and not much more than the standard HD. But you will see the difference if you have a 4k source. There's my 2 cents

-Have you made a print from a captured 4K JPEG?

Yes I have a 4K and it just sits there.

I'm getting ready to buy a 4K 65" TV .....the picture quality is wonderful
If I didn't need to shop for a TV, I'd answer no the all the other 4K questions. Trading up usually doesn't concern me.

Anybody got and opinion on Sony, Samsung or LG?
I'm leaning toward Samsung for the one cable connect but Sony has a killer picture....as do they all

I know Im off topic but you all are so helpful and opinionated in the equipment purchase area.
I appreciate all advice

Do you want OLED 4K? I lean towards Sony but bought a 58” Samsung 4K Smart TV at Costco a few months ago for $539.00. OLED or QLED is the way to go but comes with a cost.

Allowing others to be the Beta tester for both quality and pricing.

I'm old so either I spend it now or leave it to the kids that don't need it.
I am looking at QLED. Except for features the big 3's IQ all look the same.
Generally I don't like Sony for its complicated menus.....I guess my bias applies to cameras?
......right now its a toss up....and I'm tired of the internet reviews.....the big box sales kids are helpful....to a point.

TV buying is hard since it an 7 to 10 year purchase.....a lifetime in tech

Is IQ the correct term for TV's like cameras?

All help is welcome.

Neither do I. That's what makes it so useful.

Yes. Tried them all.

The biggest current advantage for video is recording in 4K and cropping in to create a 1080P release that looks like it was filmed with two perfectly matched cameras.

Composing a “run and gun” scene loosely also allows generous use of software image stabilization.

The best use for stills is recording a video and grabbing stills for publication (so I can release a video and a PDF or a printed manual or a PowerPoint presentation containing the same visuals, without photographing the same content twice.

No plans yet for 4K. Still learning HD video on my DSLR and editing in Photoshop - mainly sports and personal interviews for now.
