Hey Robert, what a great observation. There are six of them "hanging out" together right now, what one doesn't think of another will.

Oh Lord! They formed a gang. Next thing you know they will wear their feathers "sagging" and get tattoos.

Hey Gary, you think when the pine cone dropped in that it knew it was going to meet claws and beak.

A gang, I will watch for graffiti on the trees. Seems to be a few little birds watching them, maybe one of them will sing.

Its that time of year, the Juvenal Red-Tails are practicing their skills and amusing the neighbors. Better viewed in download, you do not want to miss the look of determination.

what fun it must have been to see them practicing their skills. great shots...looks like
they are learning their lessons and about ready to be promoted to real kills.

It is great fun watching them and trying to capture their antics, merrytexan. With ton's of gophers and ground squirrels, we are eagerly awaiting "graduation"and so are the pine cones.

I find this all very disgusting. We need to save our pine cones or else we will run out of trees for our red-tails to sit in. But they are very cool pics. Nicely done.

Anthropomorphically speaking I think the Red-Tail agrees with you, by dissecting the pine cone he was hoping to have a tree to sit in. Thanks for commenting rplain.
