I have had difficulties with FedEx - not UPS. On several occasions, I have been notified by FedEx that the package has arrived at my home, only to find that no such delivery had occurred. And FedEx seems to just chock it up to karma or something. There is no REAL effort on their part to find out what happened. On two of those occasions, vendor said they would replace the product, stating they had no faith in FedEx coming through with any positive results and that I should forget about it. But two days later, the first delivery suddenly showed up. Great! Did FedEx do their job? Did the delivery simply take two days longer than it should have? And why were those deliveries noted as having been delivered in the first place, by FedEx? Both delivery services have their flaws, but FedExt is the worst of the two, in my experience.

I use both. I've had issues with some packaging from Adorama lately but it was taken care of immediately.
The whole FedEx switch does create more delivery issues with B&H but nothing insurmountable. I also has signature required on UPS deliveries also so no difference there except the FedEx distribution center is much further drive for me.

I agree. That's been my experience as well. I still find USPS the most reliable and the easiest to deal with. Contrary to popular stereotype, on the rare occasions when I've had a question or problem with a delivery, the personnel have been both helpful and kind in responding to my inquiry.

Just my personal take, from someone who gets a ton of deliveries and has to rely on shipping documents that get where they're headed on time and accurately.

I cringe when I see something shipped by FedEx. I consider it very lucky when they deliver on scheduled date. USPS and UPS are the two most consistent here
inrural NE Florida.

Why are you reluctant to mention what company is Adorama's competition?

UPS and FedEx do a good job around here. The post office is great except on Friday when our regular carrier is off. The fill in is the worst excuse for a mail carrier I have ever seen. Our post master has tried to get rid of him with no success.

I did have one surprise recently with FedEx. A small item from B&H was shipped FedEx Ground. It was standard shipping. On Friday it reached the local facility and at 6 am Saturday it was on truck for delivery. When it came Monday I asked the driver what happened. FedEx Ground are mostly franchised routes and most don't deliver on Saturday. This driver said he goes in early Saturday to load what he can on the truck, because Monday is so busy. It never said 'out for delivery', just "on truck for delivery".

WE see UPS and FedEx trucks most every day in the neighborhood, sometimes 3 different FedEx trucks, once in a while a DHL, and a lot of our packages that start out as one of those 3 they end up coming by Post Office usually a small female (Politically correct term?) carrier, I've seen her with boxes that make her look small.

When you get your first notice, go to the fedex site and sign in or create an account then sign in. Go through the menu and choose to be notified of any/all changes or updates and you will get just that. You will get daily updates and if the delivery date changes, you get notified of that too.

Unfortunately, if expedited shipping isn't the form of shipping in UPS or Fedex it will take a week or more to arrive unless it's during the Christmas season.

I think Fedex is not at all up to UPS speed and efficiency as Fedex has left things at my front door, where I have a sign on the door that says "No deliveries to this door. Deliver to back door second floor ONLY" yet they still leave packages there, where things get stolen all the time. Fedex has had to replace three different deliveries in the past year and they have my account listed as "Back door, second floor" in their system (I had to go to their website and choose what door to have things delivered to many years ago).

Geez Any of these delivery services are delivering a gadget that once it arrives I will open and then wait until I want to use it! On the other hand if it were a kidney then I would be concerned!

I too have an issue with B&H going to FedEx Ground. The delivery "person" for my area is a total jerk. He will throw electronic packages that are clearly marked onto a concrete door step. I've called the local office several times and they have acknowledged they have problems with this driver, but I guess they are unionized and can't get rid of bad drivers. UPS here is almost always reliable. The USPS not so much as they will bend and mutilate a package to fit into the curb mailbox instead of walking a few feet to deliver.
So if B&H is reading these message, please give us the opportunity to reject FedEx Ground for delivery!

When I receive something via UPS, all too often there are UPS "kisses" on the box (AKA dings). I always have my phone ready to take photos for documentation.

I'll use the UPS or the FedEx websites to send me tracking updates (also the apps) and to receive "delivered" notifications (seems ringing the doorbell is too much bother). Depending on the item, as soon as I get a tracking number, I'll often redirect to a UPS store or FedEx drop so I don't have to worry about porch theft.

Here, FedEx, UPS and almost all deliveries = ring thee bell and run!!! I miss deliveries because the time it takes to get up from the chair and walk to the door evidently exceeds their personal wait time (usually less than a minute.)

A number of contributors to this site seem to beat the drum for Adorama's biggest competitor in New York City. (I get it; I bought my last two Nikon DSLR's from the competition.) I have not had any dealings with Adorama....yet; however, I have been having some challenges with their competition lately and a lot of those challenges seem to have started happening when the competition shifted from the Big Brown Truck to handle their shipments to Fedex Ground. If Adorama's competition is telling me/promoting that I get 2 day expedited shipping to my area, why is it taking Fedex Ground 3 days or more to deliver? I get a tracking number, I track my order for delivery, my order requires a signature at times so someone has to be there to sign. I try not to burden anyone else here to do that, they have days off too. But, when you get a delivery date, you arrange your whole schedule and day off around being there to accept and sign for the order, and nothing happens by 2 pm; and you go on line, do another order tracking and discover the delivery has been rescheduled to the following day, that really rankles me!!!!

I know what you mean. UPS is one big step ahead of FedEx.
