Long time film guy here. Started DSLR with a D3200 a couple years ago. A few months ago upgraded to a D7200 after much research because the 3200 couldn't keep up with my needs. The 7200 is the bees knees. A very happy camper. As far as Amazon goes I do go there for reviews and look for reviews that show the reviewer knows what he/she is talking about. I read the questions first. The ones that drive me crazy are the answers from someone who says, "I don't know!". WHY ANSWER if you don't know..........Geesssss

Ditto, still use both the 7200 - 7000.

Have a look at Thom Hogan's review

He did give an excellent review. Man, does he get into detail. I made a mistake and read his D7500 review. Now I REALLY don’t know what to do. He likes it better than the D7500.

If it helps, I pm'd with Steve Perry before buying for my daughter. Since she would be photographing both outdoor and indoor sports, he recommended the 7500 over the 7200. Since it was her first dslr, I've worked with her. It really is amazing to shoot at 8 fps. It feels like a machine gun. The trick is learning how to use the AF system. We've gotta get Steve's book on Nikon's AF systems.

1) I have had the D7200 (I upgraded from a D90) for over 2 years and IMHO, it is an incredible camera...versatile and well made! 2) I'm not sure which reviews you saw on Amazon, but I just took a peek and there were a total of 368 reviews and the score was 4.8 out of 5. Furthermore, I checked the veracity of the reviews on fakespot.com and reviewmeta.com and the reviews came up with good scores. Unless you are shooting super-fast action sports, I think you will be very pleased with the D7200.

Remember that prior to the release of the D500, the D7200 was the top Nikon DX camera

I’m the best person I know for overthinking. I’m going with the D7200. Last night I was shooting with a new-to-me lens (Nikkor 18-200 af-s vr) when the lens autofocus quit working. I’ve had that lens for 38 days and got it used off eBay. Had this happened eight days ago, I would get a full refund. Now? It should make a fine door stop.

Therefore, I’m going with a new one. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the amazing and valuable information you gave me. As soon as I take a picture worth a look, I’ll post it.

I have been thinking of getting either one of these cameras as a replacement for my 3100. I wear glasses and the thing holding me back is the low eye point. Otherwise, I would probably get the 7500. I don't have a second memory slot now, have never needed it. I think the actual gains offset the hypothetical loss of not having a second card slot.

I wear glasses and went from the D3300 to the D7500 and have no regrets. The photos out of the D7500 blow away the D3300 using the lens that I had from the D3300. I had also considered the D500 but decided I didn't need the extra zoom points or extra weight. The weight was the deciding factor.

Thanks for the reply. I should just try to use one first.

I've had my 7200 since 2015. LOVE it. Fast, responsive. Takes great photos. Love the wifi and the double cardslot. So worth it!

Good decision! You will love it! I did go onto the Amazon site and I saw mostly good reviews on the D7200. I, for one, give it 5 stars, I love mine!
