It might be NYC's best-kept secret because it's in New Jersey.

Perched 300 feet above Hoboken and set across the Hudson River from Greenwich Village, you are treated to a panoramic view of Manhattan Island, from the World Trade Center, to the Empire State Bldg, to the Chrysler Bldg, to Harlem.

Night time is glimmering jewel-!

Sunrise-- Awesome

In Defense of NEWARK: Newark Penn Station-- right behind it is Ferry St. and Portuguese Restaurants.

The Robert Treat Hotel in Downtown Newark and five blocks from the PATH. I usually pay between $100 and $120 for a spacious room with a lovely Portuguese bar downstairs.

The entire area was clean and safe and much cheaper to stay than NYC-- and again -- close to the train station

Okay, so it takes 30 minutes to travel through toxic blight. And Journal Sq. has the best dogs around

Have to admire your courage for taking that task on. Kind of like being the defense lawyer for Jeffrey Dahmer. But I do remember those Portuguese restaurants plus I remember my father raving about Giodarno's (not sure of spelling) bread back in the day.

Listen all:

I live in a city desired by many as a place to work and live: Seattle.

We have many places in the city where i won't go because of open use of heroin, pot, and booze with no police enforcement. There are many places where it smells like an open sewer owing to people relieving themselves on the sidewalks at night. I haven't experienced that in Newark, NYC or Philly. But people come to Seattle to visit and say it's beautiful. Their observations are based on missing the wort parts. Mine of NYC, Newark and Philly are probably the same.

However, there is nothing in the world like the new York Skyline from across the river (east or Hudson) it's pretty magical. just like the Seattle Skyline from Alki Beach at sunset with a ferryboat passing by.

my two cents.

Almost as good as shooting from Hamilton Park in Weehauken or Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn. All excellent views of the city. Greenwood is particularly nice when there is a nice sunset or stormy sky.

Thanks for the Greenwood Cemetery tip. I’ll try that next time I’m in town. It’s hard to get a good angle of Manhattan backlit at sunset or illuminated by a rosy dawn.
