Riverview Park, Jersey City, NJ
Perched 300 feet above Hoboken and set across the Hudson River from Greenwich Village, you are treated to a panoramic view of Manhattan Island, from the World Trade Center, to the Empire State Bldg, to the Chrysler Bldg, to Harlem.
Night time is glimmering jewel-!
Sunrise-- Awesome

Your timing posting this is perfect.
I'll be in Newark in a couple of week with some free time.
Got a sample photo to post?
I knew someone was going to ask that. I don't right now, something happened to them. Oh, well, just an excuse to go back.
You want to drive there if you have a car. If not, take the PATH to Journal Square and a taxi.
You might want to check out the Hoboken PATH station for shots of NYC. Weehawken is good and ground level.
But you really want some night shots from Riverview Park

Finally, a reason to go to Newark.
But, sersly, many good reasons to go to the NWK. Great city, great urban revitalization.

Having grown up in Jersey, there is no good reason to ever go to Newark.

The 2 most important cities to the survival of New Jersey are not even in New Jersey Without New York City and Philadelphia New Jersey would still be a pig farm.

I do not like NJ but that is not true. It never was a pig farm.(truck farms and dairy farms)

I applaud your restraint to that ignorant comment.

Dude, I grew up there. It's still New Jersey.
In Defense of NEWARK: Newark Penn Station-- right behind it is Ferry St. and Portuguese Restaurants.
The Robert Treat Hotel in Downtown Newark and five blocks from the PATH. I usually pay between $100 and $120 for a spacious room with a lovely Portuguese bar downstairs.
The entire area was clean and safe and much cheaper to stay than NYC-- and again -- close to the train station
Okay, so it takes 30 minutes to travel through toxic blight. And Journal Sq. has the best dogs around
