No reason to be nasty. She is an accomplished lady. We don't have to agree with all of her decisions but should respect the individual.

Christian: Please take your stupid ass political opinions elsewhere. They don't belong here..... and try acting a little more like a Christian.

Lighten up! It was a joke. Btw her only accomplishment is that she inherited a bunch of money and hasn’t lost it yet.

I love the next admonition about being more Christian! Hypocrisy never fails, does it?

Glad it worked out for you. I trust that you'll be using your flash the next time. Also when time is critical, you should look for an event printer that has a 4x6 print time under 10 sec and a 5x7 print time just over 10 sec. Naturally, these are not cheap. Another suggestion would be to shoot tethered to Lightroom so that you can have Lightroom send the files to the printer and not have to worry about file types. As I said, there are many ways to speed up the process, but additional equipment, and $$, will be needed. Best of luck.

Thank you for the comment.

I will post one with me. The clients privacy needs to be respected. I will also try to capture some of the speaking shots.

Confused. This is not a public event? Why is the US Secretary of Education doing a private appearance? When any US Cabinet official is at an event, there is no expectation of privacy.

The DNP DS 620 does a 5x7 in 14 sec.
I use the DS 40 at work, I think it preceded the 620.
Great print quality.
For an event like this, an extra person to handle printing goes a long way, even if tethered.

The appearance was open to the public but it was a fundraiser so a ticket was needed. The photo shot was a VIP event where tickets were also needed. So if you wanted a photo with Madam Secretary you needed to purchase a ticket. The ticket included the photo and dinner. This is the way it is done by everyone.

Thank you for the suggestions. I looked at those printers, would love to purchase one, however the folks that run these events are pretty cheap and are not willing to pay the added cost. I need to look into finding a way to make my D810 wireless to the printer. I sure liked the idea of sending the file to Lightroom and then to the printer...

I would have liked to have used the flash with a bounce. During my set up I saw that there was a very large glass cover on the ceiling light, directly over where they had me set up the camera and tripod. Way to much glare and I didn't have the time to figure it out. Everyone of these events are different and have their own challenges.

I like the idea of tethered to lightroom but not sure how to do it. My D810 does not have wi/fi ability. Have to look into this...

Thank you

Those printers aren't cheap, but there's no substitute if you need speed.
Had difficulty with the EyeFi card- too much interference.
We use a Camranger which works well...if you remember not to turn your camera off and not to walk out of range (no bathroom breaks with camera in hand!).
You can supposedly make your own for $40 in this DIY article.
We transmit to the laptop and a second person is in charge of the printing.

In a static set-up like this where nothing changes and you won't be tweaking the files, there is really no reason to shoot raw.
You should be able to get everything dialed in so it will print great from a JPEG.
As an example, I shoot JPEG only for portraits in our studio.

Not that I'll get a gig like this anytime soon. But the discussion has been very helpful, should a similar occasion happen to arise sometime. Thanks for posing the question and all the constructive comments.

It certainly shows the usefulness of the group and the camaraderie therein.
