Good Pictures. Bad HDR. I think doing competent HDR requires a fair amount of post processing skill.

I agree with a previous comment, that the pictures look like they were processed with an HDR app. I have Photomatix and my shots come out very similar. Did you use a tripod? We are going on a similar trip that starts in the Swiss Alps, moves on to the Rhine river at Basel and cruises down to Amsterdam. It's an alumni group trip with a professor and local guides and I know from previous trips that there isn't much time to set up a tripod. Anybody has any ideas to offer to solve this dilemma?

Thanks for looking. No tripod. All hand held. I try to set up as quickly as I can and compose in camera as best I can and take several pics of the same shot from different angles. Then move along and try to keep up with the group. I travel with one camera and one lens, extra battery and cards.

I took another look and don't see noise. Could you tell me which photo? Thanks.

Nicely done. I visited Munich in 2015 and enjoyed it. And in 1992 I was with a group that visited the Pilgrimage Church of Die Wies, located on the route between Munich and Neuschwanstein Castle--it is a beautiful Rococo church and I highly recommend going to see it. There are a few photos of it at the end of this album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8712554@N02/sets/72157626851652126/.

Well, I like these Steven. It takes some trial and error to do HDR processing, and even then...it's a matter of taste. At least these aren't severely overcooked which is what a lot of people tend to do. These look like photo-paintings in a way to me and I like that. Keep doing what you enjoy doing, that's what makes life worthwhile.

Thank you James. I appreciate your comments. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. They do look a little like photo paintings. I have been doing HDR (and all types of processing) for a while. I don’t know whether or not I have mastered it, but this is a look that I like. I do my own printing and framing and like the way this general type of processing looks when matted and framed.
