Thanks for the info MT, it works on my D600 like a charm.

Yes it does, because the D600 is not a Pro body, its the entry level full frame body from Nikon. That body will use the MC-DC2 as well as the ML-L3 remotes.

Okay MT, I got the point, now back off a little a little bit, I am not the only one that suggested that remote.

Back off? Just passing on proper information. You, and others, posted incorrect info. If you don't know the answers, don't post. Its a very simple premise.

Well, so much for a google search on remote shutter release NIkon D-500.

ML-L3 is ONLY for entry level cameras and does not work with any of the Nikon Pro series bodies as they do not have the IR receptor to work with that transmitter.
MC-DC2 also will NOT work with the Pro bodies as it is not a 10 pin connector, it is a 4 pin connector for entry level and semi-pro bodies only.
MC-30a and any 10 pin type wired remote works extremely well and requires no batteries.

Here is Nikons own full compatibility chart showing all their available remote units and each ones compatibility.

Good morning all,

Any suggestions pls for a wired or wireless remote for the D500. My intent is to use it with a long lens and tripod. Not particularly interested in using the timer delay method.

Thank you.

Les

I have been using the Nikon WR-R10/WR-T10/WR-A10 wireless remote set on my D500.
Available from B&H https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/911445-REG/nikon_27106_wr_a10_wireless_remote_controller.html?sts=pi

I have the Pixel wireless model. It is inexpensive and works flawlessly with the D500.

https://www.amazon.com/PIXEL-Wireless-Shutter-Nikon-Fujifilm/dp/B01IJPG6MS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525606022&sr=8-1&keywords=nikon+d500+remote+shutter+release

I use the Vello wired release 90 percent of the time and it is also inexpensive and works well with the D500.

If my experience of it is any indication, Snapbridge is unreliable and often non functional. After maybe 12 attempts at activating it, I've had good luck using it at most 3-4 times. I had far more success using WiFi (I forget Nikon's designation for the process) on my now sold D7200. It's such a shame, as wireless would be useful, but I'm not really willing to pay for the function.

Go yo the Nikon site, they have a list of what remotes are compatable with what camera. You can buy one there also.
