Yes I know this, actually it goes further back than you comment! the point is Canon has been a leader in production of some of finest lens available for Canon camera they make today.

Take a look at the Tamron 10-24, I recently purchased it, I am shooting Nikon however. But I am very impressed with it. Nice and sharp, fast to focus.
