How about the prettiest? Gotta love a cardinal, red or yellow. Finches come next along with indigo buntings.
When I lived in the old neighborhood, someone had Peacocks in their backyard. They have to be the prettiest birds ever when they are displaying.
Nice treatment on the reds which is a very tough color.

A northern cardinal shot this winter for me.

Gorgeous, I would love to see one
I love the hummingbirds! Here in So Texas, I see lots of Cardinals, Red-Winged Blackbirds and loads of White Winged Doves. Regulars at my feeders and fountain are Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, Golden-fronted Woodpeckers, House Finch, Mexican Jays and the Lesser Goldfinch. A Red-shouldered hawk lives close by and I can hear an owl at night, but have never been lucky enough to see him. When the lake is full there are herons, eqrets, ducks and Belted Kingfishers. This is my 2nd attempt capturing a hummer.
Would like to submit Western Tanager for the pretty competition
Western Tanager taken through a less than clean window.

My take on two subjects. I invite all replies, especially additions of subject. I know how versatile a bunch we are and every region is different. Pics are certainly welcome.
What's the coolest backyard bird in your eyes? I'm going with woodpeckers (especially the piliated), flickers and nutatches.
Second runners up: thrushes and thrashers. There's something stealthy about the way they move.

So that's me, and it's based on living in an urban area in Lynchburg, Virginia. Hope to get an onslaught of replies because I think the thread has great potenial, redundant or not.

My gosh that is beautiful!! One of the most pretty birds I seen. Can I buy it and tell everyone I took the photo 🤣😁
These are wonderful images. I think it would be amazing to have a bird take food directly from you hand. Great experiences.

Brave indeed! And Bold! Nuthatches and Black Capped Chickadees will do this in winter when food is scarce.
That is absolutely mind blowing! Did you ever hang one on the wall?

We are fortunate to have a large variety of birds, but this is my all time favorite.

The prettiest ones I get in my back yard are Cardinals and Bluebirds. Both are favorite subjects for me.
