Barry, what will be your primary use for a macro lens? If you are shooting stamps, or coins, maybe jewelry then the 60mm may be best. Flowers and occasional bugs the 100-105 works well. and skittish or dangerous critters then 180 or the 200 mm lens would be advised. The smaller the subject, the less you will use VR or auto focus with. But if the lens does double duty as a portrait lens, then maybe good to have those features. Most users do not shoot all that often with a macro lens. So good used copies are in abundance.

As the spelling/typing police, thee is no "t" in there. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones! ;-(
I do not own one, but have a colleague who uses the 90 mm Tamron macro. It has excellent image quality.
Tamron 90mm 2.8 1:1 SP unless you need extra distance for insects eyeballs, then go with Sigma 180 mentioned above. The Tamron is tack sharp and is also great for other applications in the 90mm range - portraiture for example.

I don't believe this lens has "VR"....and can't find any information on it's focusing motor.

What about the 't' in the middle of the word 'There' ?
I have the Nikkor 55mm Micro...and 105mm and 150 Macro lenses for my Nikons, both FF and crop bodies . Pleased with the quality of them all.

There are two errors in your brief post. You have laid an egg as spelling police.

And thete is spelled there.

I use Nikon's 105 and 60mm; 105 for reach, 60 for angle of view
I have been very pleased with my Tamron 90mm f2.8. And, it has vibration control.
Tokina 100mm , perfect macro and portrait lens
I would not buy any lens shorter than 90mm or 100mm Have a 100mm but if I did it again I would go to 180mm. The bad side of the longer lens is you get even smaller depth of field, but you can get back a ways.

I use the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP AF Di Macro Lens for Nikon AF with my Nikon d750. It is tack sharp. I am very pleased. Cannot compare to other lens. A couple pics.
