I use a PC, operating system, programs all on the system "C" SSD drive, documents on separate drive. Question: I have MS office 2007, Outlook has stopped working and pretty much worthless right other MS programs OK. Is it possible to somehow use the original CD that purchased to install the programs originally to somehow "reinstall" MS outlook? Thank for any help.

Come into the 21st. century and upgrade to Office 365. $9.99 a month and you will always have the most recent version installed.
Consider LibreOffice. It's free and very powerful. It has been around through many generations and is useful and reliable.
Thanks for the reply ... I was hoping for something a bit different

Usually using the original disc and selecting install will give you the option "Repair". Give that a try.
Thank you, I'll give it a try
I also recommend running windows update after the repair to make sure any security patches get reinstalled. What version of Windows are you running?
If it is completely dead, if you have the original media I would un-install it (Windows control panel for programs), and re-install from the media.
(There may be program updates since the original was made that will need to be re-installed. Office may take care of that???)
I don't know if it would, but I've seen some programs provide a "repair" option.
My version is 2003, and I had to put in on a new computer when the old computer quit a few years ago.
You told us about your Office, but not your operating system. If you know how to use your Settings menu (or control panel, depending on OS), you can find a list of installed programs. See if you can find a listing specifically for Outlook or maybe just Office 2007. Right click the entry and see if "repair" is an option. If yes, here you should be prompted for the CD so the repair process can reference back the installation files. Assuming this operation runs to completion, you then need to have Windows Update search for all the Office updates and apply those updates.
No promises given you didn't describe the exact problems, but these are the available Microsoft tools to use to perform your update. You can always uninstall and re-install although that may cause more problems than is solves. Hard to say when your software gets older and older ...

From experience I can say that the program does not totally uninstall. When the reinstall takes place it reads all the old data that still resides on the drive and the problem just keeps coming back. You can try restoring from an earlier restore point if you have any saved. It sounds also like you are using a Dell?

If you have the original CD and the all important serial number, yes. First off, to be safe, do a system scan with File Explorer looking for all instances of *.pst, the database file that outlook holds EVERYTHING in. Copy it to your desktop. The PST file holds your email history, valuable if you have a lot of folders. In Contacts, export to a file, and choose comma delimited value (CSV) format.
Insert the CD and go through the install process, but only select Outlook from the list of Office programs. I cannot remember if it grabs your original PST file during install or creates a new one. Which is why you have a backup. From memory, the menu sequece to open your old PST file is: File/Import & Export\Import from another File. Google how to restore.

I am running Outlook 2007 on 4 different computers all are running Windows 10 professional 64 bit. I'm not having any issues. Mine was installed from my "older" Microsoft Package that has ALL of the (available at that time) business and development software. So, I'm not sure why you are having the issue.. my guess is that you've got something corrupted and need to do a reinstall. You probably need to make a backup copy of your email database... I can't remember what file or files that is.. before reinstalling. Then once the reinstall is done, copy the db back in. Mine is running (now that I've said this... it will crash and burn) without any issues.

I am also using Outlook 2007 and when I have problems, which are few, I go to the control and click uninstall program, Microsoft Office Professional 2007. You will be given a choice to repair. Click on it and see if that helps your problems.

Me too. I repaired my pst file with MS free tool and that fixed it.
