If your Nikon has the round remote release socket on the front, like a D750, 810, 850, etc, then the SMDV USA RFN4S is the best. http://www.smdv-usa.com/shutter-release.html
Agree. Small & reliable at longer distances. Can stow camera in my camera case with it on. Just remember to turn it off when not in use.

I have a Yongnuo radio transmitter/receiver combo. It's good to 600' and doesn't need line of sight. If you go that route, be sure to watch a YouTube video on how to set your model up. Their manual is worthless, at least for my model anyway. The newer ones might be better.

I too use a Vello Free Wave. Battery life has been good. I've had it for several years and not had to
change the battery...I do have a spare though...you never know :))) It works very well.

I use the SMDV for my D300s & like it. If you've got the 10 pin remote connection this is a good choice & cheaper than Nikon.

I am using like this and love it. Yongnuo RF603 II Flash trigger Shutter Remote Control for NIKON D90 D5100 D7100. You can find it on eBay. or Amazon.com

This. I have a set (transmitter and receiver) and just need different cords to use it with a Nikon D7000, Olympus OMD EM1.1 and OMD EM1.2. I have the impression that there are cords available to fit most camera remote sockets - the Yongnuo end is just a 2.5mm plug.

The beauty of radio control is that you don't need a clear line of sight to the IR sensor on the camera - this was a problem with my Nikons, for example, when I would set up to be in a family group shot and used a large bellows lens hood. Even a decent size zoom lens can block an IR sensor from the transmitter. And it lets you shoot from beside or behind the camera if you want. Like an endless cable release, but one that nobody can trip over.

You can also get a Pluto trigger. It is certainly more expensive than just a trigger but it has a lot of fun options such as trigger on lightning, sound, laser beam (and the laser comes with it) and many more. It can also do time lapse, HDR, etc. Works either via a simple extension cord (the ones usually used for audio) or wirelessly with your cell phone

I'm using the Flashpoint FP-RRC with a D750. Haven't tried to do anything fancy (timed shots, etc.), but so far no complaints, no problems.

Where on the D750 is that socket? I can’t locate it.

oh, my bad—didn’t realize that socket accommodated 10-Pin accessories. Thanks!
